I fancy myself a decent Disney information source, but when I don't know something, I know where to turn....
So as a couple, we visit Disney at least twice a year. Because we're such fans of WDW, we tend to talk it up quite a bit. Now we're planning another trip and will be joined by a single friend. Of course we want her to experience the magic pixiedust: so we're glad to take her with us. But, I need some insight/ideas as to how to go about this and make it a great vacation for all involved.

If she is a really good friend maybe a 1bd would work with her on the pull out sofa. A 2bd would be a nice luxury if you could swing it. I had a friend who did that. When I travel with my friend we get the 1 bd.

Have fun.

I'd go with either a 2 BR lockoff (so she would have her own private entrance) or a separate studio for her. As much as the camaraderie of a 1 BR might appeal, that's 3 adults to one bathroom and that's not great math.

I'm not sure if you are just asking about accomodations or not. But AKV has one bedroom villas with two (2) bathrooms; definately a plus when traveling with others outside of your imediate family.

As to making magic for someone's first time in "The World"; take them to all of your favorites, but listen closely and allow some down time if you hear any squeeking!

If you are considering a 2 bedroom, I would spend a few extra points and book a 1 bedroom and a studio rather than a 2 bedroom. Then if your friend can't come after all (illness, work schedule, financial stress, etc.) you can just cancel the studio and still have the 1 bedroom for yourself.

Being a Disney fanatic myself, it is easy to let our excitement play a role in how we plan our trips.

Since this is her first trip, I think it is important to remember that WDW can be overwhelming the first time and that it can be stressful to try to do it all.

On the flip side, you have been so many times that certain things are no "big deal" for you and may not think "skipping" it would be an issue.

My suggestion is to let your friend take the lead as to the pace of the trip. Maybe suggesting things that you love and providing information (ie: buy him/her one of the Tour Books to learn about the parks and attractions) and then let him/her suggest a few places to try for dinners or parks to visit.

As far as accomodations, if you were interested in opinions about this, that a studio or a lock-off 2 bedroom would be ideal. Sometimes, people need or want their own space.

Have a great time!!!!

We went to SSR in a studio in January, (DH, DSis, me). She didn't mind being in the room with us, but she is even more of a "light sleeper" than I am, and my DH's snoring (even just lightly) was difficult for her. In the future, would do a 1BR.

We all got along great. My DH went fishing a few times, napped in the room, or watched TV, and didn't have to worry about me not having anything to do. I was glad to have my sister along, so she and I could go do our own fun stuff, like Downtown Disney and hangin' out in the hot tub (in was in the 20's to 50's when we were there!) brrr!! We were on the dining plan, and we had a teriffic time at dinners and even a character breakfast!

Have fun!
