I recently encountered someone on social media who claims to be a prospective Disney employee, scheduled to start in February. I'm normally the "live & let live" type, but the content this person is posting (illegal drug use, pornography with what appears to be a group of teenagers, talk about a "diaper fetish") would leave me feeling very uncomfortable if I didn't alert someone who might at least take a look & make sure that this person is someone they really want working around children & families.

If anyone could let me know what to do, I'd really appreciate some advice. I've found email addresses online but have no way of knowing which ones are "live" & which ones lead to the circular file.

So you know their real name?
I doubt it will get anywhere-good luck!
(I know someone who just became a nurse (at 40)and smokes weed-but I figure one day she wont pass her drug test)

I think you should just mind your own business.

They included their real name, home location, & photo.

Looking the other way when you know something isn't right is not something that I'm comfortable doing.

I think Disney is capable of weeding prospective bad employees out and I would bet they check social media of applicants. If they truly are are bad as you say I doubt they will pass the application process. That is just my opinion.

While I agree doing the right thing is the right thing to do, I am not so sure in this case. I would let it play itself out. How would you approach it, what would you say to Disney?

It sounds like you trust and are highly involved in this social media source, and are 100% sure of the accuracy your information.
There are lots of ways the information will be processed.
You've mentioned live and circular file, both are possible. Your information outline on the person you wish to "report" also could be filed and affiliated with you, rather than pointing the finger at someone you say you met or read about online.

If they were an applicant, I'd assume as much, but they claim to have an actual start date in February.

As for what I'd say... I don't think they really need my analysis of the posts. It's a problem to them or it isn't. "This individual claims to be a prospective employee & maintains a social media page located (here) with some potentially troubling/illegal content." That's about it.

I doubt it, but I don't really care if they keep my concerns on file.

I'm not sure exactly what degree of seriousness you are talking about with the drug use and pornography. For instance, is the purpose having inappropriate sexual activity with minors or is it just mundane chatting with people who might be underage. You can always contact your local authorities with your concern. This is what the Department of Justice has to say about reporting Child pornography.

Child Pornography

  • To report an incident involving the possession, distribution, receipt, or production of child pornography, file a report on the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)'s website at www.cybertipline.com[external link], or call 1-800-843-5678. Your report will be forwarded to a law enforcement agency for investigation and action.
  • You may also wish to report the incident to federal, state, or local law enforcement personnel.

It's serious enough to be concerned. It's not smoking weed. I have no idea how old the people in the photos are but they appear to be young teenagers. Thank you for posting this.

We actually look at social media more than anything. Job references aren't so dependable. We don't 'dig' for anything but pull up facebook and twitter and see what they say about themselves.

If you believe they're really into something illegal, then call the police, not Disney. Just consider though the difference between illegal or just something you're not into. Child pornography is illegal, diaper/foot etc fetishes are not as long as the participants are adult.

I agree, the 'mind your own business' mantra is a bit too broad. There are many people who get hurt just because everyone minds their own business.

I think you missed my point. Maybe they will note your concerns, or they might just note you sent them a very unsavory email.
Again, I doubt it, and I hope nobody else would be put off from reporting something like this after reading your "warning." :(

Warning? Nope. I just am aware there is lots of fake stuff on the internet. There are also, sadly, some crazy irrational people (ex-girlfriends/boyfriends/neighbors/angry coworkers to name a few) who happily attempt to destroy reputations via the internet.

If you're 100% certain you're onto an a true case, then report. My opinion-"I saw it on the net" is very different than an in real life experience or observation.

Me? I would back away the second I saw anything objectionable on any site. I wouldn't continue to peruse.

I do agree, but I can't imagine how many online reports come in on a daily basis & how long it might take them to work their way through to mine. In the meantime, I'd hate for this person to start work & have an incident happen that could have been prevented.

I would never contact WDW. If they are doing something illegal contact the police if you are that concerned. I don't understand why you'd contact a possible job that may or may not even be accurate. If you contact the authorities and this person is doing something illegal they will be dealt with and any employer will find out. Seems weird to want to contact wdw or any employer if you don't work there vs contacting law enforcement if you are truly concerned.

Edited to add, would you contact Morgan Stanley if they worked there or any other buisness?

Do you know this person in real life or are you going off of what they post on social media?

If you don't physically know the person in real life I wouldn't go straight to a potential employer. You can report their posts to Facebook and if you are genuinely concerned you can notify the police in their city, who will take a look. Include screen caps with the report. The police are going to handle it a lot faster than Disney will.

Also if you care so much to stop something happening at Disney wonder what may be happening in this persons current situation. Are you not worried for any "victims" he/she may already have. Plus just because they say they are going to be a Disney employee doesn't mean they actually are. There is no way to know for sure if that person is indeed going to start working for Disney.

If they included their real name, home location, and photo, don't you think Disney would have found them just as easily as you did?

Do you think, just perhaps, maybe, possibly, they could be lying about having a start date to work at Disney? I mean they seem to be a solid, upstanding citizen about everything else and I know everything you read online is 100% true, but go out on a limb with me here...maybe they don't actually have a job with Disney.
