How to compress/hide boards?

Is there a way to hide/compress subforums that are of no use to us, like we used to be able to do?

You can select "Watch Forums" and that will be a consolidated list of only those forums of interest. On each forum you wish to watch, click the Watch Forum button near the top right of that forum. It will then appear in your Watched Forums listing, and when you click on Watched Forums in the light blue bar, you'll only get those you've selected.

I don't use those categories, I mean on the main page.
