Does anyone have a good method for cleaning the vents on an in window A/C unit?? You know the vents that blow the air out and let you direct the flow of air?? I usually wrap a baby wipe around a stick or something and try to clean it that way. TIA. Unfortunately central A/C isn't in the budget.

I bet a car detailing tool would work! Or you could even try a swiffer duster, the wand would be small enough to fit in the vents.

DH is in HVAC. We only have window units because like you central is not in the budget. He takes apart out unit and cleans it thoroughly each year. The front of the units tend to attach with pressure clips (that are part of the front) and should come off so you can wash it with dish soap in the sink or tub. He then lets it air dry. You should also pull out and gently wash the filter (again with dish soap and let air dry) every month.

Thanks so much for the helpful advice. 3boys ~ you think the vent piece pulls out??? Never knew that. Sounds great.

Be careful, there could be a hidden screw also holding the front panel on.I found this out the hard way.
