How to clean glass top stove

We just moved into an apartment last month and this is my 1st time having a glass top stove.

There is something stuck/burned on one of the burners. I dont know what it is.

I have cleaned and scrubbed several times with that special cleaner they recommend and it wont come off. sorry I cant think of the brand name right now.

Is there any suggestions?

I usually scrape mine with a razorblade before I use the cleaner, it works pretty well.

OP, go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy CERAMA BRYTE.

I have a ceramic (glass) top stove in my MA home. Be very careful how you clean it.
Ask the kitchen presonnel at Lowes or HD or CALL the 1-800 # on Cerama Bryte if you are having difficulty cleaning the stove top.

I can tell you what NOT to use. I was making pralines several months ago and some of the sugar boiled over making a big mess. The ceramabryte wouldn't get it off at all. I ended up getting frustrated and using a butter knife to try to scrape it off even after my husband told me it wasn't a good idea. It WASN'T a good idea. It left several little knicks in the stove top. It isn't real easy to see them but I know they are there. I did get the sugar off though.

Mine came with the special holder for the straight razor-its really what gets the burned on stuff off-maybe look at Lowe's?

When I had something really burned on mine, I poured a little bit of water on it and turned the burner on to the lowest setting for about a minute. Then, I was able to scrub it off with the cleaner.

For small messes, I use Cerama Bryte. For larger, more difficult messes, I spray on some Greased Lightening and let it set for a little. Then I take a sponge and it comes off easily!!!

I have some of the special cleaner. I don't use it often, though. I use a razor blade, then Clorox Clean-up, then a Magic Eraser. That usually gets it all. I do have a spot or two that won't clean up no matter what I use or how much elbow grease I put into it. They are orange-y, almost rust looking.

oh, I my magic eraser for everything, including my glass top stove. Try the razor blade too.

Baking soda with a wet, blue Scotch Brite no scratch pad and elbow grease get everything off for me.

thank you all for responding. I'll start trying it all.

They gave us a pretty long lecture when we moved in on how if there were any scratches or cracks in the glass we would be required to replace the glasstop when we move out. Now I'm afraid to use anything that might scratch it...lol

There is also a nonabrasive cleaner called Bar Keepers Friend that my mom has used for years on hers and it still looks like new. It comes in a shaker container (like Comet) and I have seen it at both Target and Walmart.
