Anyone have any ideas? I posted the other day about my mom being in a nursing home, that is bringing me down. Now, work is bringing me down.
A co-worker that I filled in for yesterday said something horrible about me.
She did not know I was in the hallway and could hear her.
She did not apologize just kept on doing what she was doing.
I did not look at her, or say anything either.
These are major things, just minor things bringing me down.
Any clues to help cheer me up. I don't want to be depressed when my kids get home.

Thanks
Lisa

I'm sorry you are going thru this... :grouphug:
How bout get out of the house and go for a walk...
Have a nice bowl of ice cream...
Have a nice piece of chocolate...
Grab the kids when they get home and go for a bike ride...
Hang out here on the Disboards - some threads are always good for a laugh...
And don't worry about what the witchy co-worker said - she's just jealous.. ;)

I hope you feel better soon....Take it easy!

:grouphug: I'm so sorry you're going through some things right now.

Really, the only thing that cheers me up when I'm down or depressed is to stop and count my blessings. It sounds simple, but for me it really helps.

We lost my mother-in-law a few years ago to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and that woman was so courageous to the bitter end. She was always cheerful and had a smile, never angry for what happened to her. When she stopped being able to do something, she would try to figure out another way to do it. She was a wonderful woman and I just think of her whenever I'm down.

I realize I have my good health, I can walk, talk, feed myself, hear, see, etc.
Some people cannot do these things. I try never to take them for granted.

I have a roof over my head, food on my table, a job, a wonderful family...I am truly blessed.

And when I get down, I think about these things and realize I have nothing to complain about. There is always someone who has it way worse than me.

I hope you feel better soon!! :sunny:

I would stop at Dairy Queen on the way home :) I hope things get better for you. Just knowing that the co-worker knows you know what she said should give you a little satisfaction - hopefully she's feeling pretty crappy about it.

I agree with Chatty- sometimes I even make a list of things to be grateful for!!

I have been struggling with depression for about a year now, and have success with meds, but have found other things that help as well.

A phone call to a good friend. A funny movie (I personally love "Robin Hood: Men in Tights"- whatever makes you giggle). I like to cook something from scratch- takes my mind off of things- my husband loves that this is therapy for me too- he eats well. I take a walk with my dog, or alone. Read a good book. Sometimes it helps to havea good cry- "Titanic" or "Steel Magnolias" will help with that. Write in a journal. Plan a special evening- games and dinner with the kids? Watch a Disney movie!! Put on your favorite CD and SHAKE IT!!! Sing LOUD! Be silly.

Those are some of my tricks I use when I'm feeling the blues. I hope you can use one too! And it's important to remember that tommorow's another day, and in 6 months, you'll forget all about whatever is bothering you now, most likely. So, chin up!

You could read some of the responses on the thread about "parents of teens"

They cheered me right up. :teeth:

I've had a bad couple of days as well.. if it's not one thing, it's been another and i'm frustrated. Baths and ice cream and all that junk won't touch this. Hoping to snap out of it soon, my daughters bday is this weekend as well as Easter!!!

I'm sorry about your mom and the office-I remember having to do the nursing home with my fil and mom. Here's what I do for those down days- I climb on my bike and ride until I can't ride or I go to the gym and workout till I drop. It's amazing-the body releases all those endomorphins and you just chill out-better than any drug. Even just a little exercise will make you feel better hope this helps :grouphug:

Thank you so much!!! You would not believe how much better I feel right now.
Just got back from getting my boys from school...they always cheer me up! Stopped by the nursing home and mom knew the boys and spoke to them! Great day, there. Then I stopped by my sisters (she is on vacation) to take care of her cat and it did not bite me!!! Another good thing!

You are right...count your blessings. I am not going to worry about that co-worker, I am going to keep my opinions to myself about it, and move on.
I don't want to waste my time on it.

THANK YOU DIS People! You are the nicest bunch of people I know!
