How to check owners credentials????

Ok...I've recently seen on here how to check out if an owner is legitimate or not but for some reason I can't find the search function to look and am tired of scanning pages, lol . Can someone send me a link to a thread w/ this info or just tell me how to find this info out? I sent inquiries through windsorhillsrent.com and am overwhelmed with the responses I received. Some of the quotes seem too good to be true and I'm needing to know how to check and make sure they are who they say they are, if taxes are paid, foreclosures, etc....

You can check out zillow listings for a specific address if you know it to see if it's for sale, recently bought, foreclosure etc. http://www.zillow.com/
