Ok. So this might seem like a silly question but I went to Disney World the first time staying at the Boardwalk Inn. Since then I have been back two more times also staying at the same place and plan on going in May to guess what? Stay at the same resort!!! In my heart I’d love to try other resorts but something keeps pulling me back to the one I’m familiar with. Convince me I should try new places!!!! :)

BWI is now my favorite resort after staying there a few weeks ago, so I get wanting to keep going back (after all, that location is gold). I just have this goal of staying at all the resorts on property so that keeps me moving along. I have gone back to a few, once or twice, but generally try to switch it up. Maybe start baby steps and go with Beach or Yacht club so you're in the same area and can still visit. Then maybe try to branch out to a MK resort if you plan to go and spend more time there or want a change of experience. For Christmas 2020 we are staying at Contemporary since we know we want to go to the christmas party and near all that magic, plus resort hoping to see all the decorations is a lot of fun when the parks get crowded. If I go for an Epcot festival I like to stay at a resort that gives me easy access to that so I can come and go easily to experience everything. It's a ton of fun to stay at someplace new, to explore the resort and find it's little hidden areas you normally don't see just passing through/by.

If you are open to doing a split stay, we have found that's a great way to try a new resort with a lot less angst. We have tried staying at the new resort for 2-3 days (you can adjust the number of days depending on your overall stay). We've found for us it works best to do the new resort in the beginning. That way we try the new and if it isn't to our liking, we have the comfort of returning to our "home" and ending where we know we will be happy. One of the times we ended with the new one, it wasn't the best experience so now we only do them on the front end.

I will convince you the other way. Do you really need to stay somewhere else? What we do instead is do a monorail crawl to hit up Poly/GFV/Contemporary.

BW just has so many positives.

If you really want to stay somewhere else you could do something like Poly for a couple nights and go to MK each day while staying there.

yup! That’s what has kept me coming back! I guess I was wondering if I was missing out on other stuff but the split stay may be the way to go. Hoping to upgrade to AP this May so maybe I can experiment over the next year!!

Others I’d recommend:

GF (loved it here)
Poly (this is where I stayed as a kid and still enjoy it)
AK (we like Kidani because the BR has 2 full bathrooms)
WL (love the atmosphere)

And I like that split stay idea! Might help me experience values or mods when I’ve been spoiled with deluxe!!
I'd go split stay too :)

We've been starting to branch out from Shades of Green to check out other resorts but if it's a week or more trip, it's likely we'll always still book a few days at SOG.

We've also started spending time visiting some of the other resorts when moving between parks or during downtime to see what they are like. (i.e. taking a monorail tour or last trip DD and I impulsively hopped on the Skyliner when leaving DHS on our way to MK to try it out and also see CBR and Riviera.)

We started out at BC and absolutely fell in love! So I understand your hesitation. It's still our favorite with YC being in an almost dead tie. Our first split stay started on a very last minute add on night due to major plan change. It wasn't bad and we could say we stayed at a value. Next trip flight was better a day earlier and we tried AKL CL for one night. It was an awesome experience. Since then we tend to change but not necessarily every trip. I will definetly change up resorts if the deals work to our advantage (usually tryng to get a CL stay in if the pice is right). Only one time was a bad choice but it was still an experience.

BC and YC has best pool hands down of any property. Plus ease of access to HS and EPCOT.

wilderness lodge was our fist deluxe and had problems moving. Great atmosphere, rustic and has boat to MK.

poly on the monorail line is big plus. Good atmosphere, Trader Sams is great bar. Boats to MK.

all are great. We broke away and found we had something to like at each one. So just think of the new things you can discover at a new place.

I’m going to agree with a previous poster. Try a split stay. My DH and I love OKW and have a tendency to stay there every trip. We’re trying a split stay this time starting at BCV before moving back to OKW. I think it’s the perfect way to try new places without committing to it for the whole trip.

We LOVE split stays for exactly this reason. We’ve found that the Grand Floridian is our favorite, but there’s still more we want to try. So we always have the GF in there and spend a few days elsewhere. ☺️

Split stay! Even if you just try a night. I would also recommend you try Yacht Club. It would still give you the familiarity of (the best) resort area, but with a new resort!

I had this issue too - loved BWV, did 3 straight trips there. We finally branched out because we are DVC and booked a “last minute” trip but there was no availability at BWV 😂 wasn’t by choice but I am enjoying the experience of other resorts.

I wish I had advice because I’m the same way only with the Poly. I have since stayed at POFQ and BC, had a decent time at the former, enjoyed the latter much more but still neither came close to that Poly feeling.

Idk, I’m of the opinion that these trips cost so much, you might as well do what makes your heart sing and if that means staying at the same resort all the time so be it. My quick weekend solo getaways will be my experimenting time, I think. You can always try the split stay idea.

We visit every few years and try a different mod or deluxe resort each time. Our trips are usually 9 days so have done a few split stays. Each resort has its own theme and we enjoy experiencing the differences.

Next time you are there you can walk over to BC and YC and check them out. Also you can do a meal at AK or WL and check those also. Do this as a recon and see if they interest you. If not they no harm with a stay there. Do what works for you.
