My mother has a resort reservation. We are all linked in her MDE. I manage hers :)

The first reservation is March 14 - 17. The second is March 19 - 22. Today we booked our FP’s but only through the 17th - just 2 days for us since we arrive 2 days after them.

They are at the beach 17th and 18th. Mom called WDW and was told we can’t book the 18th until 30 days out since there isn’t a room reservation. I thought this would be a rolling 60 days.

I assume we can’t book the rest until 60 days from March 19. Mom was originally told all 10 days would open from the 14th.

Does this help you? I pulled it from the FP stickie. Two onsite stays back to back seems like the one you should read. Are you a room only ressie or resort, that will determine which subheading you should then read.

Split Stays

This post is based on information provided by poster @hiroMYhero.

For purposes of this post, a split stay is defined as two contiguous stays at WDW where there are no full days between onsite and/or offsite stays. Two onsite stays more than a full day apart (for example, checking out on a Monday and checking in two days later on a Wednesday) are not considered a split stay.

The many possible combinations of split stays can make planning for the different FP booking windows difficult. This post lists the most common scenarios and summarizes how the FP booking windows should work for each. Real-world experiences and posts that would improve this information are welcome.

If the reader is not interested in getting FPs for any of the high-demand attractions mentioned here in Availability, then the information in this post can be ignored. The simplest FP booking strategy in this case is to wait until all trip dates are within the booking window and schedule all FPs at the same time.

Please note that onsite package tickets are not considered valid by the MDX system until the package check-in date. (This behavior is different than separately-purchased tickets, which are considered valid as soon as they are linked.) The 60-day FP booking window will not appear in MDX until 60 days before the check-in date. Before this point, it is normal for various members and/or their tickets to not appear in the MDX account. The entire traveling party and their tickets will appear at the 60-day mark in most cases. The FP booking window for package tickets will range from the package's check-in date to the check-out date.

Ticket Validity restrictions do apply to all Split Stays.

Tickets purchased prior to October 16, 2018, have a valid 14-day booking window.

Theme Park Tickets purchased on or after October 16, 2018, have restricted validity which do apply to all Split Stays. Be sure to check ticket validity ranges when purchasing tickets.

Two Onsite Stays (Back-to-Back)
  • Package Stay followed by Room-Only (RO) Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the first (package) stay and will extend until the checkout date of the second (RO) stay.
  • RO Stay followed by Package Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the first (RO) stay and will extend until the checkout date of the second (package) stay. FPs can be booked for the package stay only; FPs cannot be booked for the room-only stay until tickets purchased prior to October 16, 2018 have been activated when onsite. Theme Park Tickets purchased after October 15, 2018 cannot be activated early.
  • Two RO Stays. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the first RO stay and will extend until the checkout date of the second stay (and potentially beyond). This assumes valid tickets are linked to the MDX account.
Onsite Stay followed by Offsite Stay
  • Onsite Package Stay followed by Offsite Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the onsite package stay and will extend until the checkout date of the onsite package stay. Additionally, the booking window will roll forward (a “rolling 60”) each day beyond the onsite package checkout date until the guest checks out of the onsite resort.
  • Onsite RO Stay followed by Offsite Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the onsite RO stay and will extend until the checkout date of the onsite RO stay. Additionally, the booking window will roll forward (a “rolling 60”) each day beyond the onsite RO checkout date until the guest checks out of the onsite resort. This assumes valid tickets are linked to the MDX account.
Offsite Stay followed by Onsite Stay
  • Offsite Stay followed by Onsite Package Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the onsite package stay and will extend until the checkout date of the onsite package stay. This booking window will not include the dates of the offsite stay because the package tickets are not considered valid until check-in date of the onsite package stay (for MYW Tickets purchased prior to 10/16/2018). The ticket portion of the package can be activated up to 10 days prior of the onsite package check-in date (so that the package tickets can be used during the offsite stay).
  • Offsite Stay followed by Onsite RO Stay. The 60-day FP booking window will open at 60 days before the check-in date of the onsite RO stay and will extend until the checkout date of the onsite RO stay. Since the offsite stay precedes the onsite RO stay, this window already includes booking for the offsite stay. Additionally, the booking window will roll forward (a “rolling 60”) each day beyond the onsite RO checkout date until the guest checks out of the onsite resort. All of this assumes valid tickets are linked to the MDX account.

The reservations have to be contiguous to get the rolling 60 days. Because of the gap you can’t do the second day until 60 days from the 19th.

The 60-day FP window rolls even without a 2nd reservation - offsite or onsite - nothing is needed and the window continually rolls if the “ticket validity” timeframe is still valid.

Correct. The situation described is not a split stay, but two separate stays very close together. The rolling 60 from the first stay does apply, however. What the OP’s mother heard by calling WDW can be ignored.

Thanks. Our day between the stays is EPCOT so we aren’t the too worried about booking FP’s.

It’s just my mom gets told something different every time she calls. She specifically asked about the rolling 60 days and was told absolutely not.

Our AK day is our last day of the 2nd reservation. Fingers crossed we get it at 60+4.

If you aren’t one of the people listed on the 1st reservation, the rolling 60 doesn’t apply to you.

You’d have to Select your Mother with your grouping then Cancel the FPs for her after you book all 3 Epcot FPs.
