Hey everyone,

I dont know if these questions have been answered yet, and if they have, feel free to direct me to them. thanks.

In this college program, can you be a princess or is that for a more experienced applicant (ie: someone who has been through the program once before)? If you can be a princess, and you go for an audition, what sort of thing do you do. Do you come prepared with a monologue or do they give you a cold reading to do or what? Also, in order to be a princess, do you need to be a theatre major? Thanks so much. Any details you could provide would be wonderful!

Usually you need to audition for a character performer first, but Disney does hold open auditions for "face" characters fairly often. I think most people start off as fur characters regardless and I knew a lot of CP's who were face characters shortly after they arrived and had gone through their regular character training first.

I did not go to a face audition, but I do know plenty of friends who did and the casting folks basically look at you and will make decisions from there. The first part takes about 5 minutes or so and then they decide if they want to fit you in a costume and such.

All character performers go through pretty extensive training, but it is even more so for face characters as they actually have to talk to guests...the rest of us don't ;)

Hope this helped!

Out of curiosity, just how hard is it to become a CP? Is it really competitive and what are the qualities they like? I imagine good acting must be one of them.

I didn't not think it was too bad...I was just worried about the dance part. At the audition, you learn a dance routine in about 20 minutes or so and then perform it with 4 other people in front of the casting folks, along with a mime like animation in addition to the dance. One we did was getting ready for the Oscars and you could take it from any angle you wished...actor/actress, paparazzi, host, etc.

Hey, I hadn't taken any sort of dance anything since I was 8 and I made it! :)

Interesting. I got curious about it on my recent trip to DL (last week) and was wondering how they did it.
