This will be my DW's first trip to WDW, (2/1/'07) and she wants to see the MK first. Would it be best to park at Epcot and go to MK by monorail to get the full effect, or drive to the park and take the tram? I was at WDW way back in the early 80's and can't quite remember.

i would be interested in what you decide. we are planning to do epcot and Ak first then doing MK after so leaving the "best for last"

We have a 7 day park hopper pass, and staying 8 days. Leaving St Louis at 7 am, arriving in Orlando at 10 am. Pick up the car at the airport, check in at the motel, (off site) and head to the park! I hope to get to the World at about noon. My wife is 40 yrs old and never been anywhere. I figured WDW is the best place to start!

My personal opinion would be to park at MK and take the ferry across as you can see the castle from the ferry.

My first time was from the ferry, and I thought it was so magical. I agree with ferry!

I'll second that!:goodvibes I was going to say the same thing. My first time to Magic Kingdom was when I was an adult but I was as excited as a kid. I'll never forget crossing over on that ferry the first time. As the castle came closer and closer I cried. I don't think you can beat the magic of crossing over on the ferry the first time.

We used the ferry from the Poly, even though we're on the monorail, there is something about that huge ferry that really strikes home, we're in WDW. The only other thing is once you pass under the train station and enter the first hub, stop and gaze up Main Street, smell the pop corn wagon, stop in City Hall and get her a badge and slowly make your way up Main Street. It's just so magical, and I still do the above after 38 visits it still puts a lump in my throat. Others like the other parks but nothing says Walt Disney like the Magic Kingdom.

The ferry it is then..thanks all!!!

I would hate to have the opposite opinion but I would ride the monorail. First I love to ride the monorail for no reason other than to ride it. You pick up the train at epcot and then at the TTC you could ask for the front cab for the ride over to MK. I have great memories of going trough the CR as a kid and loved seeing MK park come into view. It might waste a little more time to get there but I think it would be worth it.......

The magic for us begins on Main St. at the MK. Looking at the castle in awe.
We usually stay onsite so we use Disney transportation all the time. We stand there and stare at the castle and can't believe we are finally at WDW. We always use the monorail.

As much as I love the monorail, take the fairy. You will get to ride the monorail to Epcot, plus this is the view from the fairy...
