We've been to WDW several times but in our rush to see things always seem to miss things. This trip is our nice and slow take it all in trip. I have a few questions:

1. What time is the "park opening" - do all the parks do something special or just MK?? We usually manage to miss all this.

2. How do you get to ride in one of the main street vehicles?? Is it luck or do you just ask someone??

3. What are some other things that we've probably missed in our hectic what to do next trips? I know about hidden mickeys and we've found some.

Thanks for all your help. My DH, and older DS are going to teach me how to slow down, relax, and take it all in - I hope they are good teachers!!! (of course part of the reason that I get so crazy is that I do ALL the planning - and they just say - what fun thing is next mom!?)

I'm going to bump this back to page one for you so that some of our veterans can offer advice on these topics.

Park hours depend on when you are going. Re Main St. vehicles, I thought those had been discontinued(budget cuts). When they had them(and if they still do) yes, it was just a matter of being at the right place when they were boarding passengers. DW and I were at DLR a few backs and we rode one of the vehicles from the entrance of Main St. to the hub.

One thing you might try is riding in the front of the monorail. Just ask a CM while you are waiting to board. There is usually room for one family or group of 4-6.

Try and enjoy the spectacular settings - like the Oasis @ AK, the twinkling sidewalk lights/dancing fountains at EPCOT etc. My youngest DS is the best at this - I'm definitely got to do all of these items on my list type. This time we're giving ourselves an extra day in the World - I am hoping that will help me. Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks for the advice. We have ridden in the front of the monorail on our last trip and the boys LOVED it (me too) but we are a group of 5 (we bring my sister too) so it's hard to pick who sits in back (DH did last time). My kids also LOVE the twinkling lights and we usually hang back so they can play (dance) for a while - it's amazing how those give them so much energy and for some reason then they can't make it up the monorail ramp??!!

By Park Opening I meant the characters arriving on the train and other possible things that happen in the morning. If hours start at 9 does this happen at 9 or a little before or after??
