How to add backgrounds/borders?

Before I found this wonderful thread, I started to make a few invites on my own to various things, Princess Tea, BBB, etc. What I can't figure out how to do is put in a border or a background to the page so it is not just a plain white one. I am using Pages on a Mac. Does anybody know how to add one on this program? TIA!
