Hi there. I am renting a few of my points to help out with my upcoming Disneyland trip (8 days away!!).
The person renting it from me wants to add a dining plan. How does that works? Do I have to get their cc number and call member services or they can do so directly at at check in?:confused3

The member needs to add the dining plan at least 2 days prior to the check-in date and it must be paid for in full at the time it's added.

What would be the best way to accomplish this? get the card number from them and call members services or do a conference call? Sorry I would call and get these answers from Member services but the waiting time is so long:(

If your renter is willing to give you a credit card, you could use that to pay for the DP when it is added to the reservation.

Some renters buy a Disney gift card equal to the amount of the Dp and give the owner that to use. If the FP is later canceled, the money is returned to the credit card or gift card used. So if your renter uses a gift card, remember to tell them to keep the card "just in case".

You, the member, can add the dining plan by either calling member services or by bringing up the reservation on the member web site and clicking the link you'll see there. In either case, you'd need some form of payment from your renter, as mentioned by previous posters.

The person renting from you cannot add it themselves. It can't be paid in installments, and it can't be added at check-in. Also ensure they realize they won't be entitled to the free dining promotion being offered to cash guests, if they happen to be traveling during that offer.

You could do a three way call with MS. But still there is nothing to prevent you from hearing his CC number nor from the member from hearing your member number and last four of your SSN.

I think the Disney gift card would be the best way to go.

There is a way that the renter does not get your member number nor the last 4 digits of your SS number and you don't get put in the position of having to handle any of their credit card information:

First call into member services, confirm all your info, have them pull up the appropriate reservation and have THEM initiate the three way call from their end...they already have all of the renter's info on file, so the phone number can be confirmed by you and member services. I make sure that MS has all the info they need from me up front and when they (the renters) start to give their credit card info, I hang up. I've done this a number of times without problems. MS has always been very helpful and understanding with this in the past for me.

Wow! Lots of good advice. Thanks everyone for your input. I will contact the renters and discuss what route they would prefer.:goodvibes
