How the heck do you decide your colors???

The way we went about this was we chose something that we but love and something we wanted to included in our day. We bothe chose the Fratnerities that we are in. My is Sigma Alpha Iota and our colors are red and white. DF's is Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia with their colors being red black and gold. So we are using these colors because we really love them and also because they are also some of our favorite colors.

Originally I wanted a Patriots wedding... didn't happen.:headache:

Then I wanted a Princess Pink wedding... didn't happen.:headache:

Then I started looking at Disney movies for a theme. You know the scene in Beauty and the Beast where they're dancing? Well we got blue and yellow from that. Blue is my favorite color and yellow is my MOH's favorite color. We made them pastel to go with my theme (Meg and Rob's New England Wedding in Walt Disney World because there's no chance of snow down there!) It was a color scheme that I really hadn't seen much of, so it was different and that made me happy.

So from the Northern part of Red Sox nation - that's my convoluted answer Sam! LOL!! :rotfl:

Orange & Fuschia is fun!! (of course I say that, since those were my colors).

My reasoning for having those colors is

1. I wanted a FUN wedding. I wanted it to feel fun and cheerful and happy :) I'm not into the super elegant, pretty.. I wanted crazy fun! Orange & Fuschia make me smile, they're happy colors :goodvibes

2. It was summer - so it made sense!

I'm part of Red Sox nation too... (lived in Boston for many many years ..just outside Fenway park.. man I miss it!). Not that that has anything to do with my colors, but I thought you'd appreciate this - check out my garter belt!!! Woo hoo!!!! :cool1:

It may not be part of the process but being a sox fan holds big responsibility for us DisBrides lol! Love the garter Trace! Where did you find it!

For me, it came down to a couple of things. First, I did not want to use the color red. DF and I met at and still work at Target so all we ever wear is red. I also feel like red is a morbid color and over used in weddings. It seems like half of the weddings out there, the color is red. Second, DF decided that he did not want to wear a tux. Since he is almost 27 and does not own a suit, we decided that we would buy him one - to which I decided it should be navy blue. (speaking of which, anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced suit?) From there, I choose yellow. I feel like yellow and navy blue always look good together.

Got it online. I don't remember where. I didn't even toss my garter but I loved having it on :) Had to represent, you know?

Oh no, why did you show me this site lol! I have spent the last 45 mins trying to get the colors figured out:lmao:... ahh well it's Tuesday and rainy here at work:rotfl2:

If I like The Attic for my reception, how much do you think that limits my color options? If I DIDN'T pick pink and green, would it look weird? Cost a lot to decorate? Maybe I could do pink and green plus one other color? Hmmm.

I don't even dislike pink and green... just trying to decide if I have other options.

The Attic has so many different colors in its palette, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. :thumbsup2 Also, it is one of the least expensive places to decorate because it has so many props and tchotchkes in place already that you don't need to add a lot for it to look "done."

I originally had chocolate and pink for my colors. I thought they were quite classy. DF was the one who actually said that he really liked bright colors and after buying a pair of hot pink shoes I decided to change the colors to pink and orange. I thought it would be nice and vibrant for a summer wedding

I always thought that I would have had a pink color in my wedding somehow. We found bridesmaids dresses that we loved and ended up picking them in a purple color because it looked the best on everyone! Never would have thought I would have had a purple wedding! But everything ended up looking wonderful!

But OK, now for the real question... How in the heck did you decide and select your wedding colors and why? I am starting to get super confused up here in Red Sox Nation about colors so any insight or expertise for you lovely Disbrides would be tremendously appriciated:goodvibes

Not a Disbride (just a lurker), but here's how I chose my wedding colors - compromise. My favorite color is purple and my DHs favorite is blue, so I ended up going for a really deep purplish-blue. We also had a lot of Scottish elements in our wedding and of course heather, so I added heather as a color. I also added touches of medium blue and a splash of dark pink in the flowers and the cake - everything worked together and really reflected us. Wedding colors were just the first of many compromises. Have fun choosing!

Blue and yellow were the colors in my sisters wedding this past weekend. I was really hesitant on them at first but they ended up coming out really really nice. The bridesmaids were in yellow and the maid of honor (me) was in blue. It looked great!

For my wedding, we wanted something that's super different so we chose black, fuschia, and accents of deep turquoise.
