How strict on age cut off for CP???

We have made a tradition out of the CP every year. LOve it, can't say enough great things about it. However, on our next trip which isn't until Dec. 2004, one of my boys will be 13 yrs old. We always eat at Le Cellier and I can't imagine him eating all the food that is included with the 12 and up price of $39.95. If he could eat that much that would be fine but our last trip in Dec he ordered the steak, potatoes, and choc. mousse. He barely finished it. He actually didn't finish the desert and thats saying alot because had there been even the slightlest chance he would have crammed ever bit of choc in.

So here's the question: Can a 13 yr old get a child's ticket and order off the kids menu? Has this been done? Is this a major no-no?

My intent is not to be dishonest, its just the adults in our party can't even eat all that food.

That's why I won't eat there again. I'm 49 and don't get my money's worth because I can't eat that much at one sitting. The only Buffets that work for me are ones with seafood because that is all I eat at them, no salads or deserts. I don't look like a kid so I can't get a lower price either. Sorry, I'm afraid that they don't care how much you can eat. That is the price. I enjoyed the characters, but just can't justify the price for what I eat.
Then you take my 16 year old DS and he looks like he never eats anything and he can clean a refrigerator out in a one night eating session. I swear he has a hollow leg. LOL

Disneyholic thanks for the response but my post isn't quite clear. I didn't mean Crystal Palace, I was referring to the CandleLight Processional and dining at Le Cellier. It's not a buffet, its ala carte.

Last December my daughter celebrated her 12th birthday at WDW. We did the Candlelight Processional dinner package and ate at Le Cellier. I did buy the adult ticket for her even though she is a light eater.It enabled her to get the filet which she loves. My husband used her appetizer to get something else he wanted to try, so it worked out great. However sitting next to us was a 13 year old boy who was eating from the child's menu and the waiter never batted an eye. I think it is different with buffets where the age limit is strictly adhered to. My daughter and I have both ordered off the child's menu at other WDW restaurants and its never a problem, so I don't see why they'd mind you buying a child's ticket if your child is satisfied with that menu.

I can't eat that much food either! I'm sure you could do it, but think about what it is teaching your child. Now that my DD is 13, I insist she buy the adult movie tickets too, even though she could pass for 12, it is just not the right thing to teach them, in my opinion. it's like saying it is Ok to cheat, if you can get away with it.

I was terribly fearful someone would make this into something its not!!! First if your going to post a judgement, know what I'm asking .

With the Candlelight Processional, you purchase an adult ticket or a childs ticket. The adult ticket would have my child eating an appetizer, adult meal, and a dessert. The childs ticket would allow said child to order a meal and a dessert from the childrens menu.

And to make it VERY clear. I would ask the person at Disney Dining if this was allowed. I would not do it to be sneaky or cheat and I most certainly would NOT set a poor example for my child by lieing!!! Thanks for assuming I would!

We ate at Le cellier last year for CP. There is a fixed price for over 12. I would be very surprised if disney would say, your 13 year old can pay the 12 year old price. That makes no sense. I'm sure a lot of people do it, however. Sorry if you were offended by my honest opinion.

I can handle an honest opinion. But your comment makes it sound like ,my intent is to be dishonest or sneaky. My child has been buying adult Disney tickets since he was 9, he paid adult prices on buffets this past Dec. We do not lie!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we certainly don't teach our children to by our own actions!

i'm going to call DIsney Dining today and get their take on it.

whoa, whoa... SnowWitch, I didn't get georgina's post as offensive. To be fair, (and this is not meant as a flame), you were not clear in your opening post with exactly what the situation was.

CP can mean many things and since Candlelight Procession is a seasonal event, its not as well known. There are those of us who have never attended this event and have no idea what the rules are. When you spelled it out just now, it made things much more clear.

I also assumed that you could pay an adult admission for something and just order off the kids menu. Lots of us do when we can't eat so much and I just hate wasting.

I thought Georginas post was just as an observation based on the interpetation of your post that did not include more specific facts. I did not see this as a direct attack on your character. Now that the details are listed, the issue is more clear.

I agree that just calling Disney Dining is your best bet. No one wants to be dishonest but its a valid question considering the amount of food. Would taking food in a doggie bag for later be an option? I do it all the time at the World. I swear an hour later, I want that steak that I couldn't eat.

Just got off the phone with Disney Dining. They stated they had recieved alot of complaints concerning the age cut off on this package(lack of a better word for it) in the past by parents who felt their child couldn't eat that much food off an adult menu.......blah, blah. That I could order a child's ticket for my 13 yr old and have him order off the childs menu.

Granted with all phone calls Disney, I realize the response depends on the responder. So I when I am ready to purchase them I will ask for a supervisor with a real name to verify before I do it. If I have to buy an adult ticket, oh well I buy an adult ticket but if I don't have to (per Disney rules) I won't.

We've gone in December the past 5 years and I didn't buy the CP package the first 3 years because I know my mom and I can't eat all that food. We usually split a meal at LeCellier. Since we stayed at BWV the last 2 years, I bought the package since we could take the leftovers back to the room for later or the next day. We got our dessert to go and also took back some of our steaks. That dessert was so huge that we were eating bites of it for 2 or 3 days!

We love the CP and buy the package even though I cannot eat all the food it includes at one sitting. I really wish that Disney restaurant portions were not so large or that they would offer a way to share. I'm a diabetic and just cannot eat all that food at one sitting. Normally, if we want to eat at one of the sit down EPCOT restaurants, my DH and I share an appetizer and an entree. He may order dessert, but I'm always full by then. There's no way we can do that for the CP package, so, like DebbieB, we've started taking leftovers back to the room.

Debbie, I love the idea of taking part of your dinner package back to your room to eat later. Like you, I cannot eat that much at one sitting, but taking it back to our room solves that problem.
Now that we're BCV members, we have a fridge and microwave, so there's no need to waste part of my meal ever again!

Why can't we spell out what we are trying to say. CP also means Crystal Palace. Some of the resorts look alike when shortened. There have been plenty of times that there has been confusion on the boards because of shortening things. I usually spell out anything that could be confusing to someone else. Some people on these boards are not into the computer lingo and going to the cheat sheet doesn't always help. I don't go onto chat rooms very often either because I just don't understand what people are saying with their shorthand and feel left out. To make these boards more user friendly maybe we should try to help the newbies by not using so much shorthand. I have seen many posts asking what they mean and them being told where to find the cheatsheet, but if it has many meanings for one set of letters that doesn't help much.

No need to flame. I should not have been so hostile to georgina but I was grumpy and I felt my integrity was being questioned. Now that my estrogen levels aren't so high and I have re-read georgina's response I realize I was a bit catty. Had PrincessAurora not sent me to my corner.......................LOL. I do apologize to georgina!

I must have totally missed the part about LeCellier when I read it the first time. We will be leaving for WDW in just a few days and between work & getting ready I am exhausted. Probably fell asleep in the middle of reading. LOL
