.. while looking it over it says "tank tops" are not permitted. How strict is that??

I ask because, really, a tank top can be drastically dressed up or down depending on what you pair with it. PLUS, it'll probably be in the upper 90s and honestly I just can't imagine most women not wearing something like this, even when worn with the allowed 'dress shorts' or skirt.

I mean, I have dresses that are more casual than some of my tank top outfits. lol. I just really don't want to have to bus it from the resort all the way over to dinner and do the rest of my evening walking while wearing a dress/skirt.

I just can't see ALL tanks really not being permitted. I like to think that they are just trying to express the need to use common sense and not wear something you'd wear to the pool to this particular location, but ... who knows.

Someone want to clarify Disney's position on this? Share your thoughts, experiences?

wow..

Granted, I can't tell a tone intended by a poster through the internet, but that post really comes across as very rude.

Flaming is absolutely unnecessary.

I do apologize if that was not what you intended your post to be viewed as, but I think I'll just take my future questions elsewhere.

Disney knows what a "tank top" is and knows that it gets hot in Florida in the summer and still issues a dress code that says "no tank tops." You should dress accordingly.

That being said, the enforcement of the dress codes in the signature restaurants is loose, at best. If you walk in wearing an appropriate tank top (whatever that may be, with "appropriate" being in the eye of the beholder), you are unlikely to be turned away.

No apology necessary, my apology to you. :flower3:

Actually trying to be just a little too sarcastic based on a million other posts on the subject.

How strict is the dress code? Unfortunately not at all. We eat there probably 3-4 times a year and there are always people who go there thinking the dress code doesn't apply to them. Apparently Disney agrees because they still let them eat there.

Hey TnL. Seeing how you are from the North Shore, that kind of dress would be considered formal for yaul :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
And before you say it, yes I have went strolling throught the Beau with an Ice chest on my shoulders. Beer is way much cheaper at the gas station across the street. :rotfl::rotfl:

Wear what you are comfortable wearing. There are huge differences in what can be considered tank tops.

Yachtsman is a very nice venue. It can also be chilly in there. Keep that in mind, dress nice, and have a great dinner. We really like it there :)

JMHO....DH and I have visited almost every Signature Rest. at WDW and most nights I wear a dressy tank top with capris....no problem, and most times I am one of the better dressed females in the restaurant. I, on occasion wear a sun dress...but other than the few that wear "formal attire", (which I would never do at WDW, except for V&A) I have never felt out of place.

Okay, am I right in thinking a tank top is like a vest/t-shirt with out sleeves. Do you not think they are perhaps directing this more at the men in your party than the women. For example, how about an expensive cocktail dress with spaghetti straps?? So I think it's more about guys getting their armpits out than women, or I could be wrong!!

When they say "tank tops" they really mean "no wifebeaters" - to use the rather crass term. They aren't meaning "don't wear your Tommy Bahama resort wear that lacks sleeves."

As Pumbaa said though, it gets chilly in most WDW restaurants. If I were going to the Yachtman, I'd plan on a cab both ways, and a sweater. That will keep you from bussing around dressed up (its a pretty nice spot, make the whole evening a little nicer and splurge on the cab), and will make sure you aren't chilly in the restaurant.

1) Disney no longer enforces the dress codes.
2) Except for V&A.
3) That includes tank tops.
