Hello,

We want to build a droid "as a family." They say it's limited to the building and two guests. But it also says "only the builder can build" so does that mean if I only buy 1 droid my kids can't work together to build it?

It would not be real easy. The "stations" are not large, and having 2 children there would be encroaching into other builders areas. But the 2 could work together to pick out the pieces.

You can see here with my granddaughter building, how close the gentleman next to her is. My 2 granddaughters (11) couldn't have built together.

Agreed - the area isn't that big. We were there on Star Wars Land opening day back in 2019. My brother was the only one planning on building a droid but then we saw how cool they looked and ended up building 3 lol. It was a lot of fun and it might be worth it for each kiddo to have their own that way they can customize how they want.

When we went my kids built the droid but the parents lurked around in the background. We did wander around in pairs and choose the pieces, but then when the building part came they did that alone. A cm helped them.

I wonder if it would be possible for your kids to take turns at the building station. If you spoke to a CM and explained the situation maybe they'd let them switch halfway?

I'm planning our first trip back since all the Star Wars stuff opened. DS14 asked to build a light saber, but I don't think he realizes that droid building exists. For those of you that have done both - is one a superior experience to the other, for the builder? And is one more exciting to watch than the other, for the viewer? Is one geared toward casual fans and the other geared toward super-fans, or does that not factor in? It's DH, me, DD17, and DS14 on this trip. DS14 and DH are the huge Star Wars fans; DD17 likes anything that involves souvenirs/shopping but is only a marginal SW fan. (She is the proud owner of a Harry Potter wand from Universal and has never read a single HP book or watched a movie ha.) In an ideal world, I'd book DS14 for both experiences and the remaining 3 of us would watch, but that's not possible.

I have done droid building with my kids and built my own lightsaber. The lightsabers was a way cooler experience in my opinion.
