Hi we will be visiting WDW on Halloween going from Hollywood Studios to MNSSHP.
We're early 20's and will be dressed in "Pixar Pal" costumes from Block Party Bash. Do you think we will have a problem wearing our costumes around Hollywood Studios before we head over to MNSSHP?

they look like this:

Unfortunately it's pretty strict. They will not be allowed in DHS (so you will need to bring a change of clothes).

What is this rule? I'll be next week, are you saying no costumes?

Wow! I am a true blue DVC-card carrying WDW fan, and I had no clue that this was a rule!!?? We have only dressed for the Halloween Party and, well, I suppose we would never have a reason or inclination to be in costume otherwise. But, just goes to show that there is always something new to learn!

I was on the phone making reservations and I just asked, they said costumes are usually allowed at all the parks on Halloween.
I said usually? can you confirm that? She then put me on hold and called guest relations.. Guest Relations said costumes ARE allowed in ALL the parks on Halloween.

This is Disney so I wouldn't be surprised if I showed up and it's a total different story once I get there but I'm now showing up in my costume.

hhmmm....I was at Disney the first week in September this year.
While walking in Frontier Land, I saw a woman dressed as Minnie Mouse (She looked to be in her early 20s and she was with her dh or boyfriend).
She had on Minnie's dress, covers over her shoes to look like Minnie's shoes, a big red bow in her hair. The only thing she didn't have was her face covered by a plastic Minnie Face. I did a double take (ok, a triple take) and could not believe she was actually walking around like that. I would say that most definately was a costume but I am glad no one stopped her and I got to see her :rotfl2:

The "costumes" you are going to be wearing are just kitchy versions of regular clothing pieces (skirt, shirt, boots, etc) so I do not see why there would be a problem. I have seen MANY a theme outfit at all times during the year, esp. the girls from Japan. They always have the most interesting stuff! And the cutest Disney things too. Two weeks ago we saw a couple girls who looked like they belonged in a Gwen Stefani video so I think you'll be fine.

I think if the costume is disney related it's a little more tolerated... gives off a "fan" vibe not a "halloween" vibe.

If the costume is too dead on, like kids will think you're a cm character, the costume will not be allowed even at the party.

Don't they let guests dress up for Star Wars Weekends? I seem to remember seeing a lot of Jedi in the parks during that event.

not true... they allow even the amazing costumes at the parties. at the pirate and princess party we went to last year a lady was wearing the gold Belle dress and it was AMAZING! I honestly did a double take and the only reason I know she wasn't a CM is b/c she was pushing a stroller. The costume looked even better than the ones Disney uses. People were just stopping to look at her.

Saw her a few times that night so no one must have said anything to her. I wish I had gotten a photo of her. It was a stunning costume!

So to make sure I understand:

I have tickets to MNSSHP Tuesday, and we planned to go to MK all day, in costume, then segue into the party, this is not allowed?

I walked around the MK in a full on pirate wench outfit for a whole day before MNSSHP on Oct 6 and nobody said anything to me.

isnt the issue purely that costumes arent allow into the parks if you could be mistaken for a CM? - this applies during the day time and at the parties I believe. Thats how I understood it anyway and I can totally see Disneys point of view. If they let people in who could be mistaken for CM and those people did bad things they could have legal issues as well as bad reputation from it.

Probabaly not. Remember that MNSSHP is a hard-ticket special event that requires separate admission. You are allowed to wear costumes for the party. WDW rules state that adults cannot be in costume on normal park days during normal operating hours.

Just as you would not want people who didn't pay the ticket price showing up at the party and getting special priviledges, Disney isn't necessarily going to break the normal "no costumes for adults" rules during the regular park day so that you can have special priviledges during the regular operating day that others don't get.

That said ... you may be allowed in with your costume, but it's also quite likely that you will not. It will depend on the costume and its appropriateness for daily park operations. Just to be safe, you'll want to have a change of clothes with you.

I would have to agree with this. I did see some people last year on the day of MNSSHP Sept 23rd ,try to get into the parks in costume in the morning and they were not allowed. My guess is unless it is Halloween day, the answer is no. They do not allow adults in costume in the parks .

+1 on seeing lots of costumes during SWW. I never have heard of this rule before. Good to know.
