How squished would we be?

We are planning a last minute trip for October. We are a family of 5. The kids are 10, 8, and 2. We are thinking of saving $$ and staying at POP. We really want to stay at POR, but we want the QSDP, and it's free at the values. We would save $800 if we stay in a standard room as opposed to the family suites at ASMu. Will we be way too cramped with us all in a standard value room?

Its doable. Your 2 yo of course is considered pack n play size and doesn't require park tickets. As long as your other children don't mind being in tight quarters, you will be fine.

Are you more resort people or park people? We hit the parks at 9:00am and stay until 10:00pm or later, so the size of the room doesn't factor in. And we are there with 3 adults! I think for the $$ saved, it's doable. But, if you are going back to the resort so the 2 year old can nap and you expect the older children to 'SHHHH the baby is sleeping', then it might be tough. Either way, have a great time!

We were sort of in the same situation we wanted the QSDP so we are staying at pop again. We were fine with 4. But last year my 1 year old slept in a regular bed. She won't sleep in a pack and play at 2. So my girls will share a bed.

ok to answer your question there are 2 beds in the room so your kids would have to share a bed. and the 2 yr old would be in a pack and play. you wouldnt have alot of room but i agree with the OP for the $$ you would save it is worth at least trying. My family doesnt spend alot of time in the room so for us we would try to save the $ LOL

If you will be spending most of your time at the parks, you will be so tired when you get to the room you will crash and not notice how much space you have ;)

But with that in mind, be sure to get enough rest so everyone is not overly cranky in a small room.

We've done it, and we were squished a little, but it's doable.

For a last minute trip and saving $$ this will work out fine.

Have a great time!

1) It is definitely do-able.
2) Not quite as squished as sardines.
3) More like a loaf of bread - if neatly done, everything fits.

Just wanted to be sure you know that the beds are full-size and not queen.

DH & I absolutely cannot sleep together in a full-size bed, nor would we sleep well sharing with one of our children (who are now almost as big as me!), so our only option for staying at Disney with all 4 of us is CSR or a Deluxe with queen size beds. Just DH & I on our own are fine at a value like Pop, but we just can't even consider doing it with the kids along!

(That's why we've only stayed on-site at Disney with the kids once at CSR and all other trips have been happily off-site!)

DH & I are looking forward to our 3rd child-free Sept/Oct trip at Pop and we see lots of families of 4 there, but I just can't imagine how they do it!

at home I sleep in a KING (and DH says I never give him enough room!) however, we have stayed @ AsMo and also @ PoP in Full beds and are going again in Dec & picked PoP. You will be tight, but it's not like your going to be there for like 10 days or something! It'll be fine. I would find some of the threads that talk about room organizing tips as it really is going to be important that everything have aplace though.

Do I love sharing the smaller beds w/ various family members? no, not really, however, I love being able to go to WDW so I put up with what I have to put up with.

(funny thing.. all the trips in my siggy line that say CSR... those were business trips and I was in the room ALONE... didn't have to share that big moderate room with anyone... however, I prefer the crowded rooms with my family in them :))

Enjoy your trip & try & be as organized as you can about your room and you'll be fine.

IMO swished like a can of sardines. One bathroom and LAWD I can't even think of this headache coming on lol.

We've stayed at all stars with 3 kids, one just under 3 and we stayed for 14 nights. As long as you are organised and keep the room tidy it is doable, yes there were times when we could have done with extra space but we coped. The other kids were 9 and 6

It's do-able - and like everyone says, if you don't plan on spending a lot of time hanging out in the room, you'll be fine.

Just remember that the bottoms of the beds are solid, so there is no space under there to stuff your shoes, suitcase or whatever else you want to get out of the way.

We're going next August with all 3 of our kids, but since they will be 15, 11 and 6 (actually turning 7 while there!) at the time, we're in two rooms at POP.

Gotta say, I'm looking forward to having that extra room to spread out some - and the 2nd bathroom. :cool1:

Squeezed our family of 5 with 3 teens in POR last November with free dining. A bit tight but we had fun and got through it.
