can I look for a flight for aug-sep 2010? I tried our airports website but there only letting me look till the end of august

Legacy airlines - Delta, American, etc. - open their schedules 331 days in advance. You would not be able to book a round-trip ticket until 331 days before your return, however, you could book two one-way fares. Or you could wait and see if the fares change.

Unless you are trying to get a reward ticket or (on some airlines an upgradeable fare) where there might only be 2-3 available seats, it is rarely prudent to purchase your tickets this far out.

Yup. You will likely find the lowest fares around 2 months before your departure date.

2 months???? Wow I wont be waiting that long. We need 3 seats togehter and two seats together.

Book whenever you want - but again, no more than 331 days prior to the flight. But, respectfully, if you purchase now or soon, please don't complain about the fares later, or ask if X airline gives a credit if the prices go down, or get mad at the airline when they consider any change to the tickets to be a change and want to charge you $75 or $150 (or who knows how much by next summer) each to give you a credit.

There will be plenty of seats together 2 months before departure. (unless you are traveling the Wednesday before Thanksgiving or right before Easter / Spring break)
