I've read everything on the website and I know locations can only be booked about a year in advance but I was wondering how soon people let Disney know they wanted their wedding there?

I am planning for our wedding to be around this time in 2009, so I'd be looking at booking the venue in August 2008, I guess - should I contact Disney anytime before this? I am far too eager, I know lol! :rotfl:

Yay another 2009 bride :thumbsup2 :) :woohoo: . We re gonna have our ceremony in May 2009, think you can contact round a bout 1 yr in advance so roll on May 2008 for us  .

Are you gonna have a planning session? We ve now decided on having one, great excuse for having a quick peek at everything plus i think if i wait till 2009 to get out there im gonna go crazy

I know what you mean about being too eager, i ve literally already planned our big day detailed down to even the music. I think if i waited till 2008 to do all the planning id go mad so this is keeping me sane....for now

Yeah I am not even engaged yet and I have it all planned out. Good thing my boyfriend finds it completely cute and normal, I think any other guy would have ran for the hills already haha, it must be cuz he loves Disney. Last night he even sat at the computer with me and looked at the wdw ballroom locations, aww. Dont worry, time flies and 2008 & 2009 will be here before you know it, atleast you got all the fun planning to look forward to!

Hi,

We won't be going for a planning session as we were just there in April/May, so we looked around all the deluxe resorts and worked out where we want to stay and eat etc!

My DF proposed at Disneyland Paris and is as big a Disney nut as I am, which helps. It's only my big brother who is awkward about a Disney wedding (although he enjoyed Disney the one time he came with the family, he doesn't like to admit it!).

We are hoping to get a Disney fix by going back to DLP in 2008 using our Airmiles to pay for it!

My DBF is the one who brought up the idea of a WDW wedding! I thought it would be too expensive and that he wouldn't go for it, but I took a chance and showed him the special on the Food Network and he fell in love with it. I think he secretly likes it that I am so up on the planning. He won't admit it though! I have kept it quiet, pretty much, I've only told a few people. Tonight he told one of his best friends. I was excited to hear that. He doesn't really want to waste money going for a site visit or a planning session, so I'm not sure if we will or not. Plus, as I am a teacher it would be best to go on my breaks, but that is when WDW is packed. Otherwise I have to take days off because they only do that stuff on weekdays.

Hey ITgirl, I'm a teacher too :D That's why we're limited to August for our trip.

I'm glad I know so much about independently booking Disney because the tour operators over here rip you off on August holidays - they don't take much notice of the fact that Disney classes August as Value season as it is peak season over here, and booking a package adds literally thousands to the price.

Scrampvamp and ItGirl, I am a future teacher! Will be graduating in December 2007. just thought i would share.

*waves hand at teachers*

Future professor here :) Currently a PhD student so once I complete this neverending journey, and then my postdoc, I will be a *teacher of sorts* who was wed in Disney! :cool1:

Disney classes August as Value season
I know everyone says it'll be so hot, but value season is one reason I want to have the wedding in July or August. I have a few other teachers who will be invited, and it'll give us time for a honeymoon or anniversary trips! I am hoping an early morning wedding in epcot won't be too bad. Then an afternoon reception inside in the AC.

Hi to all the other teachers and future teachers and future professors :cool1:

I'm really nervous right now as I start full time on 4th September - eek, my own classes!! It's really funny as most of the kids at school are taller than me (I'm teaching 11-16 year olds), but almost all the teachers in the English department are relatively small women lol!

ItGirl - My first two trips were in August when I was 15 and 16, as we had to go in school hols (three week, two-centre trips - loved those!), so I'm used to the heat and humidity, I hope! Actually, there were some days in May where it was almost as humid, which really surprised me!

There are a lot of teachers on the dis. I've gotten into some heated threads about teachers' vacations and education on some other forums. I don't like to debate, but some people are closed-minded and get so nasty!

Scramp Vamp, good luck on your own! I've been in my school for 8 years. I am glad I don't have to do it all again though. I've learned so much since that first year. I love setting it all up again each fall! I guess i can't get in till next week.....they remodelled our building and it is overdue! We were supposed to move in last week.

I just can't wait to set a date so I can call and book things! I am getting very impatient. We are making all these plans, but when will I have a date? I thought it would be before school....he wants to go away Labor Day weekend so maybe then? We're most definitely within 12 months now! I want to call and I want to really be able to tell people.

what grades do you all teach???
I hope to teach 2nd or 3rd grade...it is so weird to think that this is my last full year of college-- then Fall 2007 bring on the student teaching!

Now I teach first grade. I've taught second and third as well. Plus I am certified in deaf ed so I've taught lots of different levels there, for short periods of time: subbing and summer schools. In NY state they've changed the elementary level certifications. I guess you have to have some idea of what grade you want so you get the right certification. There are 2-3 different certifications that cover elementary now. I'm certified nursery-6th for elementary, k-12th in deaf ed., and k-6 in special ed. I'd like to get my reading teacher certification someday.

Ohh I hope you get your date soon! Don't worry, if you're anything like me, once you set your date it will seem so far away and suddenly it's upon you! Can't wait to hear all about it! Do you have a date in mind?

Scrap_Vamp, it's my first year too! I start the 5th. I have little guys though, 2nd and 3rd graders. I'm also very nervous...not so much about the kids but the parents! Good luck to you, hope your first day is fantastic!

We've been talking about a wedding for over a year, and about doing it in Disney since February, so now I can't believe it's within 12 months! You're right, the rest of the time will fly by! We are planning on next summer -- July or August. We have most of it all planned, except for the details!

I see you're in Philadelphia. What kind of school will you be teaching in? I teach in the inner city in Buffalo. DBF wants to move for a new job after we get married. One base he was considering is in Willow Grove, but who knows, it changes every day! It scares me to have to start all over in a new district!

It's so wonderful that you have a date range in mind! And it's the perfect date for a teacher. I work in a charter school. It's in the city, and it's similar to a private school only it's funded by the government. Basically, if you know someone on the board, your child get in, otherwise you're on a waiting list.

Willow Grove is a great area. Nice neighborhoods and good schools. There has been a lot of talk in the local news about closing the willow grove base though. I don't know what the future hubby does in the service so I can't say for sure if his position will be in danger. But it is a fantastic area and only 15 min from where I grew up!

So sad to say this: what does DFB stand for?

princess: So it seems like most of you teach the teenies - I must be the odd one out as I will be teaching ages 11-16 (school goes up to 18). I have from Year 7 (age 11/12) through to Year 11 (age 15/16) which is the age the kids take their GCSEs. The post-16 system is being heavily criticised at the moment and looks set for changes, yet again, so I'm quite glad I'm only teaching to 16 to start with!

Our date will definitely be August, preferably the second/third week so we have plenty of time afterwards to continue the honeymoon :lovestruc
