How Soon Is Too Soon????

As you can see from my signature we've decided to go. Actually when my DH asked if I thought 5 months was too soon to take the baby he already had the flights booked. He just told me last night! :woohoo: Now I just have to plan and pack. Thanks again for all the great advice. I do have a few questions though...Did anyone bring a big stroller (travel system) with them? I have a nice small stroller that reclines all the way back for sleeping so I don't think I want to lug around a huge stroller. How many of you used a baby carrier/sling? I've never had one for my other kids so I'm not sure what is better. Also I'm wondering if the baby will be on more than just bottles at 5 months because both of my other kids were. If your baby was on more food than formula, how much did you pack? Thanks again!!

DS#1 was 9 weeks on his first trip and DS#2 was just over 2 weeks. Go it's so easy.

Wow, I can't imagine going away just two weeks after giving birth, I was barely able to leave the house.

I do think that it will be much easier to travel with a baby than a toddler, hope that you have a great time. :)

We took our adopted almost 5 month old to WDW in 1998 and we had a ball. We also had 3 other children with us.
She has been back every year us since then and each year is better than the one before. Take your baby and enjoy seeing her with the characters. We cherish the pictures of our babies with Mickey, Minnie, etc. The first year she went Mickey insisted on holding her in his arms even though the hostess said he was not supposed to do that.
That photo is a very cherished one now. Our little one is now 11 1/2.

We took our DD this past Jan so DH could run the marathon. She was 2 mos. She was super easy. I would never hesitate to take a 5 month old. I wrote a message about the trip for another dis member right when we got back about the things that were challenging, tips, etc. If you want me to send it to you, just send me a pm. Have fun with your little one!:goodvibes

Congrats! You should have a great time! Our DD was 7 months when we went last December. I have a travel system, but we decided to go with a smaller, lighter stroller that reclined all the way. This will also be easier for you if you choose to use the buses to get back and forth to the parks from the hotel. We also went with the smaller stroller because we were driving down from New Jersey and needed the extra room in the car. I do suggest having the babies formula, diapers, etc. ordered and shipped to the hotel. We packed all of it in the car and it would have been nice to have the extra space. As for food I packed WAY to much of it to be honest. She was still more on formula then food but every baby is different when it comes to that I feel. Mine was and still is a bird when it comes to eating. Also I do suggest the baby carrier. We used it many times while we were there. It works out great especially waiting in line. One thing I do suggest is to start using it a month or so before you go to get your little one use to it. Our DD was fine, but occasionally got fussy cause I don't think we used it enough before we went. Good Luck and have a GREAT time! It's so much fun to see their faces at that age and I agree it is easier. :)

We brought our DS for the first time at 6 months. We come from a cold climate and the most important thing for us was taking breaks. We were traveling with others and couldn't return to the hotel for the afternoon, so at the hottest part of the day I would take him to hang out at the Baby Care Centres. They provided quiet time in an air conditioned space. I also made sure to offer him plenty of fluids.

We brought our DS for his first trip at 3 months and DD will be 2 months on her first trip. We loved using the baby care centers and I alternated between using the stroller and sling which worked out really well. Have a wonderful trip!:goodvibes
