How Soon Can You Bounce Back?

If you have the "bounce back" offer in your room (and the offer is good for current dates), how long do you have to wait to "bounce back"? Could you book it for the next day or two to extend your stay? Just curious because last time I stayed I had a "bounce back" offer that included the days I was there as well as the days following my check out date.

My understanding:
A room only booking you could.
A WDTC package has a 2 day lead time for booking/arrival. (Although it is three days to add dining to an existing package. Have no idea how this would work.)

However, cannot speak from personal experience.
