We have booked a Disney package with dining. We'll be staying
at AKL from 10/13-10/20. We will arrive in Orlando Thursday 10/11
and plan to spend a couple of days site seeing.

Is is possible to check in to the lodge early saturday morning so that
we can spend the morning and early afternoon exploring Epcot?

You can check your luggage in early, but odds are good you won't be able to get into your room till the afternoon check in time.

We've done this both times that we've visited; check in around 8-9am, then head off to the park. You can even call guest services to check if your room is ready earlier than the check in time. :)

Sure, you can check in super early if you like. I've heard of folks checking in at WDW resorts as early as 7am. The earliest I've ever checked in mysels was about 7:45am.

When you check in early, the check-in CM will issue your KTTW cards, which act as room key, park pass, and dining plan card. If your room is ready, they'll give it to you then; if not, they will not tell you what room you will be in, but you will be given a phone number to call after 3pm to get your room number.

Your park passes and dining plan credits will be active immediately, so you can go to the theme parks, water parks, and restaurants. You can also enable room charging on your KTTW cards and immediately begin spending money.

If your room is not ready when you check in, you will be able to leave your luggage with Bell Services until your room becomes available.
