How soon before trip can we make a reservation/location request?

You can make location requests at the time you make your reservation, or anytime after that.

Just tell the Member Services CM your request and he/she will note it on the reservation and then hope you get lucky and get what you requested. They will not accept requests for some room types (AKV Value rooms, for example).

Is that a new rule? We stayed in a value studio at Jambo House in May and I put in a request for a room close to lobby which they noted and it seems it was also granted as we had a great room location. (Second room on Ostrich trail, savannah view).

Or do they just not accept requests for a specific view for the Values?

We have been told different things by different CM's. There has been a policy change but it isn't quite clear on what it is.

We were told that you can't make a request that is a category. In other words you can't stay in a value and request a savanna view because a savanna view is a category.

I don't know for sure but it seems logical that it is just the request for a specific view that they no longer accept. Thanks for the correction.

Then that's probably the same rule which led to the new "Close to Hospitality House" booking category. So you have to book that category, but cannot request it anymore.
