How similar is the food at Tusker House and Boma

I had hoped to secure an ADR for Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey one morning of our trip but it's 180 days and no luck. I will have a 2 year old so I want to do character dining for him at least once. We have a Boma dinner ADR (one of our favorites) and considering adding a Tusker House ADR to get in character dining. I have never been to Tusker House before. For those of you who have been to both, is it different enough? I don't really want to have similar meals two nights in a row and based on current plans, they would likely fall on consecutive days.

If I remember they both share the same executive Chef, so I sure there'd be some overlap

I've only have done breakfast at each and while they has some similarities (as do all WDW buffets) I didn't go away thinking that they were basically the same restaurant.

The great thing about doing a buffet with as many options as TH and Boma have is that even if there are a number of similar items, there are more than enough variety to eat completely different meals each time you go.

One option is to do Tusker-house for breakfast and Boma for Dinner.

I think most people would choose Boma over TH for dinner. But they are more even for breakfast...at least that is my sense.

In our experience, Boma has the best buffet food on property, and Tusker House the worst, so I would say they are different enough :rolleyes1.

For a similar character experience, you could try Hollywood and Vine at DHS or Garden Grill at EPCOT. GG is our favorite character interaction and the one restaurant we have to do every trip. You might also consider Ohana breakfast, Cape May's Character Breakfast, 1900 Park Fare, and a few others as well. Kenny the Pirate has a good list http://www.kennythepirate.com/dining/disney-world-character-meal-list/ .

We did both last year and are doing both again this year. We didn't think it was too similar to eat at both but that being said, DH's parents are Indian immigrants and he grew up eating Indian food every day. TH is DH's favorite character meal (we don't love the food at character meals, we just think it's the best one)

I don't think they are too similar, and I agree that the food at Boma is much better by comparison. Not that I think that TH is bad, but if it were a choice between them, hands down go to Boma.

Just returned from our trip last night. We ate dinners at Tusker House and Boma. Family of 8...ages 6-67. We enjoyed seeing the characters at TH and the bread pudding. That's it...otherwise it was awful. Boma is beautiful and had excellent food even for those in our group without an adventuresome palate. We will not return to Tusker House.

Thanks everyone! Dismommytx I'm going to look into the other character dining experiences.

We will most definitely keep Boma!
