How should we reveal the suprise?

We let DS choose this summer's vacation since he is celebrating his 10th bday in August. He chose Hawaii. We are headed to Aulani and decided we would make a stopover on the front end in DL. We aren't sure how to suprise him. DH doesn't want to tell him ahead of time. We are flying direct to LAX. He knows that we can't fly straight to HNL. I really want to do something awesome since we are never able to suprise him at WDW because we drive and he has disney radar. You get within 30 minutes of Orlando and he will be wide away no matter what time of the night it is. Tried it once and it didn't work. So this is my only suprise reveal I'll get to do.

Would it much a surprise to tell him when still at home, or do you want to surprise him by walking up to the gates?

At 10yo he may be pretty wise. You may say you are staying near DLR to peek at the new Cadillac Range over Carsland. Then the next morning reveal that you can't leave until riding Radiator Springs Racers.

We surprised our 2 girls with w Disney Cruise for Christmas. We received the Welcome Aboard post card from DLC and we put both of them in a envelope and that was the last gift they opened.

I would rent a Limo (cost us $100 to go to disneyland from LAX, 45 mins) to take you to your hotel and simply say yoru doing a breif sight seeing tour of LA.

Tell him you made a mistake and the leg to Honolulu is going out is San Diego and at that since it is so near to your travel date there are no flights from LAX to SAN available so you guys will have to drive down... As you are going down I5 he'll see the Matterhorn... then it on you!
