How scary is Star Tours?

I understand that Star Tours is a stimmulated ride with just a screen, but I'm not fond of dips/rollercoasters so I was wondering how intense it is? I've been on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and was fine on that. I'm also fine on POTC and RSR. Do you guys think I'll be okay? Or is it a little to intense for me? I know that there's various storylines but is there lots of drops, normally?

It's a flight simulator. The motion effects feel like a fairly mild roller coaster.

There is no drops--it is nothing like a roller coaster. It is just like a chair in a room (the floor doesn't drop or anything) that shakes you around to make it feel like you are flying in a space ship. The floor never leaves your feet and you don't go anywhere except side to side and some forward tilting and shaking.

I am not a roller coaster person either (I have gone on Matterhorn, but didn't like it!) and was never once scared on Star Tours. The only thing I have felt on Star Tours is car sick (motion sickness), but it isn't as bad as it use to be. The old version was much worse as far as the motion sickness for me.

It is a fun and exciting ride and not scary. Hope that helps.

It's not scary at all -- the biggest thing is motion sickness with the movements of the simulator. That being said, if you were OK with the old Star Tours, you'll be fine with the new one. If you do get scared from the visual effects, you can always close your eyes for the remainder of the ride. :)

Thanks for all the replies, it doesn't sound that bad and I'm gonna try it out! I was just apprehensive because you can't really tell from the videos how intense it is and I always like to know before I go on rides.

Motion sickness can be an issue with this type of ride, since the physical motion can never exactly match the visual motion :crazy2:
Often an object is placed in the visual display for your eyes to "follow" (space ship, animal...).

It's significantly less intense than Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

The seatbelt and visuals are integral to approximating the feeling of flight. The seatbelt actually tensions at certain points to simulate the feeling of being pulled out of your seat more than just from the actual motion.

And it's not a physical drop, but the motion system is able to approximate the feeling of a short drop.

If you can handle Harry Potter and Forbidden Journey, you can handle Star Tours.

I am a chicken little and didn't find it scary. Motion sick a little-yes BUT the best part about Star Tours is that if it bothers you, you can just close your eyes! Which I did a time or 2 and because of the description Lisaincalifornia gave, nothing unexpected happens when they are closed lol!

Yep, was going to say the same thing. Star Tours' motion sickness and intensity is nothing compared to Harry Potter.

I am the biggest roller coaster/ride chicken ever and I can handle Star Tours. In fact, I look forward to it every time we go to H.S. You may feel a little anxious the first time because you don't know what to expect, but it's really fun and not scary. Nothing like a roller coaster!

I don't think it's scary and my 3 oldest kids love it. I will agree with others about the motion sickness if that is an issue for you (it is for me and only because an issue after having kids).

I love Star Tours, it's one of my favorite rides! I think my kids would be scared however. It feels like you are in a spaceship which is about to wreck or crash into something. I hate roller coasters and love Star Tours. I think you should give it a try!

My DS loves it. I don't like it because I get dizzy but I close my eyes for most of it for the sake of my son LOL :) As PP said, for me it's the mismatch of visual and physical motion. Nothing scary at all.
