How scary is Revenge of the Mummy?

My 10 year old son loves Space, Splash, and Big Thunder Mountains. He hates simulator rides like Back to the Future. My understanding is that motion does not scare him, but mood stuff does. He'll tolerate Tower of Terror, but doesn't like it. If you are "sort of" a ride coward, but not a complete ride coward, and have ridden the Mummy, were you very frightened? Or was it just exciting?

Thanks for any insight.

for the mummy, its not "scary", just lots of fun. the only part that would scare him would be in the beginning where the mummy's pop out for 3 seconds. its loud and startling, but not scary. while this is happening, you could point out to him the golden statue of king kong. after you ride it once, you get used to it. if he can take coasters and isnt TOO afraid, he can do it. this is such a fun and exciting ride and is my favorite in universal.

I am sort of a ride coward. I thought the Mummy was slightly scary, but I think your son could take it. It was more scary to me than I expected, but prepare him ahead of time that none of it is real.

Well, then there are all the scarab beetles and the fire. You know your son better than we do. My six year old great-nephew loves it.

It's a fun ride. He'll want to go again after the first time.

I love scary rides and movies (and I'm 41) and I thought that ROM was very intense, especially the fire. My DD-9, who is a scardy cat, not only wasn't going on it, but she didn't want me and DH to go on it either. I found it scarier than Tower of Terror.

I"m in love with roller coaster's and i'll go on anything (Kingda Ka). But I'm afraid of sudden scares. I hate scary movies also, would the begining of the ride, the 3 mummy's scare me can somone help me!

How does the physical ride track compare to, say, Space Mountain? It sounds fun, I'd love to try it out. I like Space Mntn, but it is the "scariest" coaster track I would ever ride.

My DS9 is dying to ride this... hope he doesn't get nightmares!

And can someone please tell me & disneygal... if this is a roller coaster (like space mountain) with scary stuff added, or if it is just scary & bumpy like Dinosaur? We did IA last year, and I loved Spiderman. But I HATE the stomach drop feeling... so if there's more than one of those I'll opt out.

It's not at all like Dinosaur. It is not bumpy.
There are no REALLY big drops. For a short time you are propelled backward. There are some sharp turns. I guess it is more like Space Mountain, but WAAAAAY better.

It's like Space Mountain, but a bit faster, with a launch (0-40 in 2-3 seconds) and a small backwords portion (kinda like Maelstrom at Epcot)

IT is very very smooth, nothing at all like space mountain. It is a very smooth ride, and it doesnt have the headchopper effect. I have ridden mummy more then 20 times and i can tell you it is very good. But if you want the truth the only bad part of the ride is the launch, the rest you can probally handle, there are a "few" drop with the stomach feeling. But if you keep on riding it, it goes away which is cool.

That ride is my favorite it is not to be missed> I took my 3 kids and my 2 nephews 7 & 10 they loved it. They wanted to ride it again and again. But different strokes for different folks it depends on the child.

I thought it was a pretty tame ride. I dont do big rollercoasters but loved this. Of course there was that surprise as well that made it extra special. I love it!

If your son does not like "mood stuff," he will not like this. It is very dark and forbidding. The mummy is not just scary looking, but he says that his goal is to suck out the riders' souls. There's also a point when it looks to be the end, and an animated ride operator (visible through a booth window) tells you the ride is over, and she turns into a mummy, and also says she is going to take your soul. There is scary "mood" music, and, as others have said, fire overhead that you really feel on you face. Only you know your son, and whether he can handle this, but my daughter (age 10) is the same way. Space mountain, in the dark, she was fine with. Pirates, though, gave her nightmares. I think the mummy would put her into a catatonic state.

Can someone tell me about the bugs? I refuse to do HISTA and ITTBAB because of the bug thing. What happens on the Mummy? You can PM me if you don't want to give out any secrets. I really want to try it but not if there are bugs crawling on me. :scared1:

bumping in hopes that someone can describe the bugs? I don't like bugs!!!

I"m hoping to try this ride next week!!

The bugs are right before you go backwards (if I remember) they are on the wall in front of the car some spill down the wall on alittle shute. Then the rest are images on all the walls .nothing to worry about unless your front row dead center even then your like 3 or more feet from them.

Ok, thanks! I was afraid they might touch us! That's what I don't like.
