How scarey is EE really?

We have a 4 year old who wants to do it, but we are afraid it might frighten him...??? :scared1: :confused3 :scared1:

I've seen a video of EE but haven't ridden it as of yet.

Does your 4 year old enjoy roller coasters? That's the main issue, I wouldn't think that the theming would scare him. If he can do BTMRR without any worries then consider this one but it does look a bit more fierce!

He enjoys BTMRR but I was not sure just how much they play up the Yeti experience. I will not let him do Dinosaur because of the close up interaction - too intense.

There is no way I would take a 4 yo on this ride. At one point the drop is so steep you feel like you are practically standing up. My 11 DD went on it first with my husband about 4 times before I had the opportunity. When you get to the major drop I accidentally said, "Holy ___." I don't swear typically, but this stunned me. My daughter said, "Nice Mom." I was humiliated, but I think you get the idea. Also, the pictures they take on the drop show terrified after terrified child. I don't think it's a good idea until you ride it first and decide based on your child.

The Yeti is bigger, furrier, and you feel like you are running into him. I think it is just as intense.

Let him ride it..I went on it with my 5 year old nephew and he loved it. He also loved all the other rides and was upset because he could not ride rockin roller coaster. It has a decent drop but compared to most rides it is fairly small, let him take a look at it and decide. If he looks like he is excited I would take him on. The ride does not really last that long and for the yeti my nephew did not even notice him. It really depends per child we are huge coaster fans and love to visit many different parks so we are pretty in tune on what is ok for him to ride.

How much of the ride is actually going backwards? We have some motion-sickness issues, but only with going backwards and upside down. (Mission Space was about the spinning limit.)
Thanks.

It isn't any more intense than any of the other big coasters..... If he likes Thunder Mountain, and Space Mountian, he would like it.

I say let him ride it, too. My ds, who was 5 at the time, and just barely made the height restriction, LOVED it. And he was perfectly safe...the lap bar came all the way down on his legs.

why would you even think about putting a 4 year old child on a rollercoaster, for the thrill of his/her life. the child is only four! wake up!

the drop is quite small, and it is not angled nearly as much as some other rollercoasters. The speeds are adequate (50-ish) but the drop is not bad at all, he'd like it is my guess.

It goes backwards more than it goes forwards and in the dark. The Yeti is a huge disappointment. If you have ANY motion sickenss issues, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT ride this ride! When I got off (I am 37, DM&W) I thought I had just been given a dose of Demerol. I was loopy and nauseous--we had to find a frozen lemonade quick! If you love coasters, this is a good one. It just wasn't for me! DD9 talked about it for 2 months before we got to WDW and she was a little green when we got off too! We had two fastpasses each (we got them for my sister and her DH and DS5--they decided not to ride) and we ended up giving them to someone in the 105 minute wait line. They were excited!

Depending on how big your 4 yo is would determine if I would let them ride. Maybe you could ride first and then decide. Do the single rider line and then make your decision! That is if you can stand to ride it twice!

Easy partner! We are not here to judge but to offer advice and/or information!

Disney's height restrictions are quite lax as my just turned 3 DS was tall enough for Everest, Soarin, Test Track, Splash Mountain, BTMRR and others. He rode Splash Mtn and loved it but Soarin scared the $*!# out of him. We didn't know anything about it and nobody said anything while we were in line. The CM's just let them through without any advice or warnings. We thought it would be like Peter Pan's Flight or something. He survived and was fine--no major life changing experience--it upset me more than it did him.

Parents know their kids and should make decisions based on their kids. If the OP thinks her DS4 can handle EE, then let him ride! Like I said above, she should ride first and then decide. We should have done that on Soarin, but had no idea it would be scary!

Last year my DD10 rode EVERYTHING, including the RnRC, TOT, etc, and nothing scared her as much as Soarin'. She has already informed us that she will NOT get back on it next year, LOL! Something about that ride...

I would have to disagree with that statement. Most of the ride you are going forward. You go backwards about 23 seconds of the whole 3 minute ride.

check out the on ride video at:

You are probably right! I was so dizzy and disoriented after the corkscrew turn-thing that I didn't know which way we were going until it got light again. Regardless, my opinion still stands--the OP should decide for herself whether her child rides this ride.

thanks for the link. I just had my 6 yr old watch it. He thinks he can handle it and now knows what to expect a little. Thanks!

wow, just because your child could be tall enough to ride some of the attractions you would consider letting them go. i guess you would be the first in line at the lawyers office too, if something should happen. " but my kid was tall enough"
