How safe is DTD these days?

Umm you pretty much implied that since the guy left "evidence" (ew), that she MUST have brought it on herself.

No, I was suggesting that since he left it behind, he too might have been too drunk or she consented. I had no idea she was blacked out. The articles (only 2) I read were a few weeks ago and made it sound as if the lady went there knowing what she was doing when she got into the cab. I do not believe everything media reports. It is up for the court to decide, but until Magpie said it, I had no idea there was a confession.

You do realize that the majority of rapists leave "evidence" behind, right? A 4 year old was raped around where I live and guess how they caught him? HE LEFT EVIDENCE BEHIND.

Good Lord, even after years being on reddit, I have never heard this insane thinking that if "the guy didn't attempt to hide it, he must obviously not have done it!"

If all of that is factual the man should be in prison without a doubt.

I do not make it a habit to crucify people based upon what I read on the internet and certainly not what the media reports. Mainstream media is filled with lies and sensationalism.

In this case, it sounds like there was a confession.

Choosing to give someone the benefit of the doubt, while laudable, does not mean you should invent scenarios in which she prearranged an assignation in the shrubbery with this fellow. Especially since, even if she HAD, he'd still be guilty of rape.

Frankly, the ONLY part of the story that needs to be true for this man to be convicted, is that she was drunk. And that's not in any doubt.

DTD IS SAFE, it is really no different than being anywhere else on WDW property.. As stated by PP, the "assault" incident you are referring to was an isolated incident between two off-duty Disney CMs in which the female was in an irresponsible state of intoxication, nonetheless, in the end the accused man was arrested and is currently going through the judicial system, he will likely loose his job because of this and will likely never set foot on WDW property again..

My advice is always to be smart as you would visiting any public place, stay out of areas that restricted to the public, and most importantly ENJOY your vacation!

WOW. Just WOW. Of course a man would say this.

So the girl who was raped was irresponsible, not the actual rapist?

I realize this happened in FL, but this is for the state of California -
Having sex with a person who has consumed alcohol is not necessarily rape. The question is whether the person had sufficient capacity to consent given her mental state. If not, than it is rape. It is also rape to have sex with an unconscious person for much the same reason, the unconscious person's mental state makes consent impossible.

Like I said, I was not aware that her mental state was.....blacked out.

Given what you have shared, the man needs to go to prison.

As for what happens in the shrubs, apparently you have never been there during Pop Warner. :crazy2: :scared: Teenagers have been caught in the act in the shrubs, on rides, etc. Why would drinking, consenting adults be any different? There are all kinds of people that visit WDW.

I am not condoning what the man did, I am just stating that BOTH parties were irresponsible and that it was an isolated incident.. The purpose of my post was to assure the OP that DTD is safe and that this particular incident that the OP brought up as a concern is nothing to worry about..

First thing that came up when I googled "Downtown Disney rape":

http://www.clickorlando.com/news/di...-was-out-of-it-according-to-document/34337492

A man arrested on allegations of raping a woman outside the House of Blues at Downtown Disney admitted to having sex with her near some bushes and said "she was out of it," according to an arrest affidavit.

Times are (fortunately!) changing, but many a man has been under the mistaken impression that drunk women are "easy" and "free". In actual fact, drunken people of any gender (in theory, less so in practice) are severely off limits, because, being intoxicated, they cannot consent to any sexual activity whatsoever.

This man sounds as if he was unaware of this fact, but sadly for him, ignorance of the law is no defence. He will be an instructive example to others.

No, I dont follow rapists and their habits. Most rapists kill their victims, right? However, people who are drunk or on drugs do stupid things. And, I never said he DID NOT do it. Now you are just being sensational and silly. LOL
