How revealing are the suits on the beach and pools...

Today my two piece (50's retro pink polka dot) bathing suit came in the mail and I was looking forward to this mom of two kids maybe wearing a two piece on our upcoming cruise... mind you I have never worn a two piece but the high waisted bottoms was the selling point... well.. long story short.. the top as I told my bf would be very non-family Disney appropriate... even my 6 year old told me "I don't think that's appropriate mom..." Lol... which led to me wondering: how many non-Disney/family appropriate swim suits do you see at the pools and at the beach?

I have seen everything from full body swim suits to bikinis. Bikinis don't bother me or my family so long as it's not those string bikinis that looks like a thong. That would be a bit too much (er uh, too little lol).

I think that the fit matters more than anything. If it is too small and you are going to be falling out of it...hello wardrobe malfunction!...then thats not cool. Otherwise, power to you!

You feel comfortable in the suit you go for it!! I think as long as the essentials are covered any style is suitable for a cruise. You go momma! Wear that bikini!

Oh... the essentials on top were falling out! Lol! No denying a wardrobe malfunction! Lol!!

I wore a two piece bathing suit, and was fine. As long as what is suppose to be covered is covered, you will be fine. Can you post a picture of your suit? It sounds super cute!

Can you post a picture? It would be easier to tell. It might not be as bad as you think it is.

Do keep in mind that there ARE some beaches in the Caribbean that are clothing optional. St. Maarten in particular comes to mind.

But even on the ship and Castaway, you'll see anything and everything.

You should post a photo of you in the suit so we can provide feedback.

I always where my bikini. I have 5 of them packed for our cruise next week. I don't own a one-piece.

I would say it comes down to do you feel comfortable wearing it. If you do, then go for it. But it sounds like you are hesitating, and if that's the case, then bypass it. Not because of what other people will think, but because it's more difficult to relax and enjoy yourself when you are feeling uncomfortable.

My recollection of the 50's style was hardly what would be considered risqué. If it fits, wear it we will enjoy you have done so well taking care of yourself. I on the other hand have not done as well and will be in my conservative trunks so as not to scare the kids.

Well my teen is definitely going to be in a teeny bikini! But we draw the line at thongs and topless at American resorts and beaches.

If you are comfy and it covers the bare essentials then go for it, I say :)

The great thing about vacation is that you are never going to see any of these people again. I have an average 40ish female body type and wear only my most conservative suits at local beaches and pools in my town. But I love that I don't have to care about my imperfections while on vacation! That said, I would not enjoy having to keep pulling my top up to keep things covered.

My own kids are very conservative and don't even like it when my tops droop to reveal any cleavage. I typically go with whatever makes my family and myself comfortable. Then again, I've seen all kinds of bikinis and I doubt you will be outside the norm.

You see a wide variety of swimsuits and personal comfort levels.

I wear bikinis and they aren't high waisted ones.

But it sounds like the top isn't the issue, but the fit is. Address that and then wear it.

This was the suit! I just need to find two different sizes so it fits!

I don't think it'd be appropriate even on this board! Ha!
