How quiet are the quiet pools?

Sorry for using the incorrect term. I've seen them referred to as "quiet pools" throughout the boards so I just went with that. I certainly wouldn't expect them to be quiet 24/7, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that from say 11pm to 5am.

Is is not unreasonable at all! I just don't think there is any way to guarantee you will not hear pool noise at night. Unfortunately if you have a room near a pool you may be awakened at night by pool noise. If you call and complain they will do something about it, but you will still have had your sleep interrupted.

Thanks. That's just why I was asking for personal experiences. If 9 out of 10 people say they've never had a problem, then great, chances are it'll be fine. But if 9 out of 10 people say they have, then it's a definite issue and I'd want to avoid it and request a room away from pools.

At most resorts you pay more for either a pool or water view room. That puts the odds in your favor of not being near a pool, unless you pay for the upgrade.

My DH complained about the number of kids at the "quiet" pool at POR, he said BC and YC had way better "quiet" pools. However that is probably because he likes to take a nap at those pools :rotfl2:

He knows he is in Disney right?

I know he is weird he likes to sleep in and spend time napping at the pools while at WDW, I guess that works better at the deluxe resorts. I guzzle iced tea by the gallon because our DD is now a park commando and I have to run all over the place with her plus park hop :hyper:

It just depends who is there, the quiet pools can be nice and relaxing, or loud and boisterous. I actually think it would be nice if there were actual quiet pools, just for swimming and lounging.

I'd have to keep my son at the main pool. ;)

Usually, even the leisure pools, have hours posted on the signs at the pools. So if you are swimming at the pool after the posted pool hours, then you need to be quiet. If you are a guest who is staying near a leisure pool that is noisy after hours, just call to ask them to do something about the noise.

yeah, good luck with that one. after numerous calls (and don't forget, you are not actually speaking to the front desk, and I shouldn't have to get up and get dressed and walk all the way to the lobby after being awoken, by a soccer ball banging off the window)...FINALLY a CM came on a segway who told me that "July is Latin month at disney. they are OUR guests". as if I should play "host" instead of being a paying guest of equal status.
finally at 1 am, since the group refused to keep it down, a guard closed down the pool. and I heard a mother from that group complaining to the guard, and I heard the guard's reply , "well I can see both sides..."

both sides? middle school age kids and teens should be allowed to splash, yell, play soccer, etc etc all night long? just cause it's their "last night"?

when we received a pool view ground floor room (at that time, it wasn't a sep. paid category) we expected some noise. maybe kids splashing around a little at night. not that!!!

but to the poster concerned about noise by the pool, we have had pool view rooms quite often, and usually it isn't a problem. a couple times, it was.

once we had a room (ground floor) that was steps away from the cabanas "quiet" pool. about 11:00 the were squeals and screams, etc from the pool.. after a bit, I went out and spoke with the parent, who said they had just arrived and the kids were excited. she was excited too, and didn't realize how loud they were. they did quiet down. but it did wake me, the mom was very nice.

so there is a chance you will be awoken late if you have a pool view room.

Disney's description:
Five leisure pools 3 in Alligator Bayou and 2 in Magnolia Bend are also available throughout the Resort. Offering a more relaxing respite, these pools are perfect for Guests looking to lounge the day away.
Sounds to me like it is supposed to be relaxing.

true, in a sense.

it's more relaxing, as in, most people want to go to the feature pool with the slide, hot tub, wading pool, bar, and those annoying yellow jackets!!! (hubby's and my name for those CMs with the yellow shirts, running the pool games, with the blaring pop music, and the microphones on the most extreme decibel level:rotfl:)

so there probably be fewer people at the "leisure" pools. doesn't mean, in any sense, that there won't be children there, or children (and parents) jumping in the pool, splashing, ie. having fun. esp, if they have just a short time and don't want to go over to the feature pool.

we visit without children all the time.. we love to read, lie in lounge chairs, sunning. If a child jumping in the pool splashed on me or my book, I would think maybe my lounge chair was a little too close to the pool.:goodvibes

at the quiet pool at the ranchos last april, suddenly there was a ball in my lap. (I was reading one of the hunger games books) I just threw it back.. the parents apologized. I said, "no big deal" it was an accident.

the smaller pools TEND to be quieter and less crowded than the "feature" pools. but you are farther away from the mug refill stations, food courts slides, hot tubs, wading pools, etc. etc. but, generally, closer to your room.. (very nice if you have a nicely stocked bar in you room!;))

now french quarter, has only one pool (and the slide is a toddler slide). however, the thing I like there is the hot tub is set wayapart from the pool. so there tends to be less children splashing around in the hot tub.

coroando springs hot tub is set a little apart from the amin pool but it is really big, so attracts the kids more. the hot tub at POR riverside is RIGHT nest to the pool, so it is really annoying having little kids splashing in and out of it all the time...treating it like a wading pool. CBR had 2 small hot tubs, one near the main pool, and anothe behing the bigger slide, so fewer kids notice it.

wish the resorts had adults only hot tubs!!

so, generally, the "leisure pools" are quieter (and much easier to get a table at, or lounge chairs).. but QUIET isn't guaranteed. and a pool view room means you will hear whatever is going on at the pool even if you aren't poolside.

sept, 2011 we had a room at BLT, florr 15, pool view. we were trying to nap (yes, in the afternoon, silly us) and een through the closed doors, those gol darned Yellow jackets!!! (poolparty CMS) were so loud!!! the price you apy for the view and/or the convenience.

We stayed at POR in December. The quiet pool was pretty quiet imo. There wasn't a single kid in it, just a few adults in the pool and reading by it. It was the middle of the day though. That being said, 'normal kid noise' should be fine :)

You could hear kids in the main theme pool from our room across the river.
