How quickly does calling Disney Dining appear as ADR in system?

Hi All-

When staying on property, I have called Disney dining in the morning to make dinner plans for the evening and often just ask, "where is an opening" if I don't already have plans. what I wonder though, is let's say I call at 5:00 for a 5:30 opening and they offer me Mama Melrose. When I show up at 5:25 at Mama Melrose, will my ADR be in the system?


And, flipping the other way. I have made a reservation for dinner on the day of my arrival for about 2 hours after my plane touches down. If for some reason I am delayed at the airport or in traffic, anyone know how quickly a cancellation takes effect?
 
When they can give you a reservation #- that is returned from the system when the record of your reservation is saved.

Your question reminds me of something similar I saw a few years ago at Whispering Canynon. While my family and I were waiting to be seated a couple came in and said they just mad an ADR there a few minutes ago, however the Cast Members said it was not in the computer. I don't know how that got resolved because our table was ready just after they tried to check-in.
 
This afternoon when I called to make my ADRs, i made one for Crystal Palace, and then called back 2 minutes later to switch it to the whispering canyon cafe. It was in the system and the CM that helped me instantly was able to retrieve it.
 

Maybe I'm not being clear. I know that Disney Dining instantly has my reservation number but I don't think that all of the on property restaurants are just instantly linked with all of the information. I assume that it gets downloaded into their systems somehow?
 
It used to be a little different, because most of the restaurants would print out a list of the ADR's for a particular shift (say, dinner) and check off the names as the people came in. If you made an ADR after the list was printed, they would have to go back to their computer to find you. The computers weren't always located at the entrance podium. I've noticed more of them are using the computers live now, so as soon as you get the confirmation number from Disney Dining, you should be good to go.
 
I agree. It may not be "instant", but close.
We used our room charge to get dinner at Flying Fish, and about 20 minutes later got to OKW to settle our bill. That charge was on the computer.

I though that someone said it was 15mins but I am not sure. Best to call Disney Dining and ask to make sure because 2 hours after your arrival doesn't leave much time for incidentals to occur.
