how points can be used

oh my gosh i've never posted on a forum before --oh well here goes .
I;m interested in understanding the points a little more . Can the point be used at other walt disney world hotels such as the all stars or port orleans?

DVC points have their greatest 'value' when used at DVC resorts. In other words you can get a 1-B/R villa (King Size B/R, L/R, Full Kitchen, Bath, jacuzzi tub, laundry room, porch/balcany ) for about the same or fewer points than most regular hotel rooms at the other WDW hotels.

You cannot use points at the Value resorts, but you can at all the others.

For example, at Port Orleans, you can get a weekday room in Value season for 16 pts/night. However, for 16 points/night during that time you could also get a full 1-B/R villa at OKW.

I want to be able to visit Disney atleast once a year. I will have to purchase small amounts of point probably from resale . In the future I will then add on points but being a SDM with two college and university DS ,it sometimes seems like this plan get booted into the future.I'm enjoying the discussions and am learning alot -thanks
