How picky are you about haircuts?

I am not picky at all.

I get my haircut at whichever Great Clips has the shortest wait when I go to do my online check in. There are 5 Great Clips all within about 5 miles in various directions around my home.

Some of my friends are already horrified that I use Great Clips but almost collapsed when I said I went to so many different locations and did not even have a favorite stylist.

My hair grows quickly. I do sometimes get a haircut I like much better but have yet to receive one I was disappointed in.

I'm picky. I go to one particular lady at one particular salon. (It is a Hair Cuttery though) She listens and styles my hair the way I want. If I want bleach she does it. If I want to be a brunette again, she does it. Never gives me layers I didn't ask for, etc. Sells me styling products that will actually work with my hair. She's expensive, but everyone always compliments my hair.

I used to go to a guy at an independent salon, but I was never quite as pleased with the outcomes.

I am very picky. I go to one stylist, and one only (Holiday Hair). Have for many many years. She knows just how I want my hair done, and never tries to sell me anything. In fact, I just got a haircut on Tuesday, and am very happy with how it looks.

Not at all. I go to Cost Cutters. All I ever have done is get a few inches trimmed off the length and that’s it. I wash it before I go and don’t bother with any styling. My hair is simple. Straight, shoulder length and no bangs.

I'm picky because I've had some seriously botched haircuts. I don't ask for anything terribly complicated, but some hairdressers in the past have messed up layers, bangs came out too short, etc.

Fortunately I've since found one who is great. She is also not someone who tries to upsell services or products, but if asked for suggestions, will give advice.

My hair is very curly. I used to approach going for a haircut like going to the dentist. There were years that I never went, and just cut whatever wouldn't conform. I used to use quickie walk-in places like Great Clips, etc., but was either not happy with the cut or, when I actually liked it, the person had left the business when I went back.

For the past 4 years, I've been going every 8-12 weeks at a salon (Mario Tricoci in the Chicagoland area), and have a colorist I love. I also had a hair stylist I loved, but he left. I'm not thrilled with the guy they reassigned me to, so next month I'm trying out someone else.

I like having a person who keeps records of my styles/colors, etc. and knowing I'll have consistent haircuts.

I’m so not picky that I cut it myself in front of the bathroom mirror with orange-handled craft scissors. Sometimes I get fancy and have my husband cut it for me. I’ve only gotten a salon cut a handful of times in my life and I was never impressed enough with the results to think it was worth the money. At best, the professional cuts looked no different than what I can do myself. At worst, I was reminding myself that it’s just hair and it will grow back. 😬

Same as you - whatever Great Clips I'm near at the time.

My boys and my wife all go to the same hair stylist. No cheap cuts for them, apparently. :p

Very picky. I have great hair, but it requires a LOT of skill to cut well, because it's very thick and wavy and plentiful and I keep it shorter, so I need someone who knows how to undercut, thin it out, shape it, etc. I pay a pretty penny for my cut, but my hairdresser is exceptionally talented and owns his own salon. Luckily I cut my boys hair myself and my husband shaves his head, so ALL the haircut money in the budget is MINE!

I only go in about 4-5 times a year.

I’ve only regularly gone to two stylists in my life. One lady from 4th grade till I was about 43. Then my niece, who has since quit cutting professionally but will cut mine at her house. For $20. She does an ok job but it’s aways the same

My husband is picky about how his hair is cut but not picky about the location. He primarily gets it done at Great Clips but has in the past done Scissors & Scotch. Rarely has he had a stylist that didn't do a good job but he's had some times that were really good and other times that were just good.

I use Great Clips now, up until my college days I used the same person I had since I first got my hair cut who would do it in her home. My hair is really easy, no layering or thinning out, just trimming. For quite a long time now I get my haircut infrequently and so when I do it's anywhere between 5 to 9 inches cut off. Most times hover in the 5-7 inches. My hair isn't short short it's just going infrequently there's usually a lot of hair by that time to cut.

My husband goes much more frequently than.

We go by the wait time often and put our names in ahead. The one near our house tends to have less wait although not always but some other locations are sooo long. Waiting an hour or more vs no wait or 10 mins=I'll drive to a different location.

My hair is wicked curly. It used to be really long(down to my waist when it was straightened at one point), and it was hard to find someone that could get the cut right-so I just went like twice a year for a trim and left it at that. Now that I have cut it so short, I am much less concerned. I do go to the same person consistently now, but would be fine going anywhere if she wasn't available.

I've been going to the same person for over 20 years. I've followed her from shop to shop. She cuts my hair the way I like and she will give me suggestions on color and other things.

You and I sound like twins. :)

I’m another very picky person.
My hairstylist recently retired and luckily I found another hairstylist that cuts my hair exactly the way I like it. I’ll now be going to her until she retires (she’s only 24, so she’ll be cutting my hair for the rest of my life - LOL!!)

Honestly, why be picky? Other than complete hatchet jobs, my hair just is-what-it-is. In my younger years I spent tons of money chasing that one elusive high-end stylist that was going to make magic, but none ever did. I can't even remember when I gave up and started going to strip-mall walk-in places (Fantastic Sam's, Super Cuts, and now Great Clips regularly). It's fine and a haircut costs me $35 including tip, instead of closer to $100. Since I need them monthly, that's a good chunk of dough over time.

Not picky - it’s long and straight and I cut it myself - Once a year or so I just part it down the back, pull it forward and snip a coupla inches off the bottom…no coloring, product or particular style…I’m too lazy (and cheap) for anything else.
