I heard that the 2019 resort rates our out for next year. Not the package rates but just the room rates. If so should I be hearing from my travel agent by now? We have come up with where we are staying so I want to make sure we get a room booked. Should I bother the agent or wait till she gets in contact with me? Thanks everyone. We are looking for October 2019.

Room rates and package rates come out at the same time. Usually June-July time frame.

You can book a room only reservation over the phone now and do a package when they come out. Id get in contact with your TA if you are concerned

Actually @Brumeiser won't be able to. You can book via phone 499 days out. They want to go in October 2019 so would have to wait 2 more months at least.

Yes, this. Oct. 1 2019 won't even open until this May 20. If you want your TA to book as soon as your dates open, perhaps let them know about a week or two before your dates open for booking.

You CAN have your TA book you a RO now for 2019 once you're 499 days out. However, if you're planning on then changing to a package there's not much point in booking a RO now because in order to make it a package, the RO will need to be cancelled and the reservation rebooked as a package-two separate departments and you can't just modify a RO to a package. Many TA's will suggest just waiting until packages are released (most likely sometime in June; could be July). Also, and this doesn't matter to some but will to others, if you book a RO, cancel and rebook as a package, you'll have your 1 night deposit from your RO and your $200 package deposit tied up at the same time for a little while as it takes a few days for the RO refund to go through.
