How Old Were Your Kids When They Hit the Magic Height (40")?

My older son could just squeak by when we went the first time, a month after his 3rd birthday.

My younger one is 2.5, and he's probably 2 inches away from it. Maybe he'll grow 2" in the next two months? He likes watching the ride videos with his older brother, and when playing trains, starts yelling "WHOOAAAAAHHH!" and racing them around the track, so I think I have another coaster junkie on my hands....

I think my daughter was five. She was always on the shorter side of the spectrum. She grew five inches last year and is now in the 65th percentile.

We're going in December. My daughter is 3.5 now and only 37" - I don't think she's going to make it to 40"!

I hope she does though because she is such a huge ride fan!

Our son is tall. He was tall enough for Space (40") a couple months before his third birthday, though my wife wouldn't let him go on it. He did Indiana jones (46") last fall at 4.5 and just did CA Screamin (48") a few days ago at two months shy of 5.

Our kids were wimps! Maybe it's because they were older when they first went and didn't have a lot of exposure to rides before hand but they were 9 and 8 and WAY above any height requirements and still did not go on Space, Indy or Screamin' until our second trip when they were 10 and 9 - and they were tall for their age - so they likely could have ridden them when they were a lot younger if we had visited when they were younger and were interested. That is the thing - height is the only physical restriction holding them back according to Disney, mental restrictions though, they cannot be measured prior to any trip!!

Yeah, I think getting him exposed to rides at an early age helped. He went on Pirates, Buzz, and HM at 10 months. To this day Buzz is one of his faves. He loves BTMRR too. He went on ToT for the first time just shy of 4, and that trip he went on it like 6 times, but ever since that trip he is "scared" of it and won't ride it. Kids can be weird.

My daughter is in the 90% percentile, she was 3 1/2 when we went and she hit the 40" mark (was probably closer to 41" then). Our visit 11 months prior she was just a hair over 36"

I don't expect our son to hit the 40" mark until at least 4, he's always been around the 50th percentile for height.

My son's a shortie and hit 40" around 4.5yrs. We had a tape mark on a closet door and were checking every few months! He really wanted to go on RSR. SM ended up being the favorite, though!

Wow! I bred giants lol my 2.5 year old son is 42" and was too scared for any rides, even the storybook boats lol but no way I'd let him on any of the rides that I don't think a 2 year old could handle no matter how tall. My 5.5 year old is 45" and my 4 year old is 44.5" tall and I have a just-turned 1 year old who is about 35" tall. We were just at Disneyland last week. So much fun! All of my little giants were/are above the 99th percentile for height as babies lol

My oldest was able to got on Indy (46") just on his 5th birthday. A few months before he was about a 1/4" too short, but just now we could do it - but were checked at every stop. Maybe we can do California Screamin' for his 6th birthday. Grow kid, grow!

My daughter is 4 (born in November) and hit 41 inches recently! She is of average height.

My youngest is definitely on the samller end probably <10%tile and hit 40 inches at about 4.5 years old. now he's 5.5 just 42" I think, I wish he was 44" for our next trip but I doubt that will happen in 2 months.

when we went right after my oldest daughter turned 4, she was tall enough. My youngest is 5 now and 43", so I am guessing she was about 4 as well.

My kids are like yours. My oldest daughter was 40" before she was three. She rode all of the 40" rides, even TOT, during that visit. TOT was the only one she found scary. Her favorite was Splash. She's gotten taller with each visit and rode Matterhorn a few years ago, and Indy last May. She's now just shy of 48" and has ridden a few 48" at Discovery Kingdom (Six Flags N. CA). My son will be three in another month. He's about 38" tall. More than 2" shorter than his sister was at the same age, and boys height chart percentage are taller than girls. I'm curious how our baby girl will compare to her siblings. My son was the biggest at birth, but they were all about the same size at 6 months.

They won't make her take her shoes off. Just tell her the goal is to touch the sign with the top of her head and not to be afraid of it. She needs to stand tall, but not on her toes. She should be fine.

All of our kids were in the 3-4 range when they hit 40". On our last trip to WDW this past Nov our youngest was 3 years 2 months and was right at 40" (with shoes on). He was so excited when he made it through the entrance height check for Soarin' but at the loading area the CM re-measured him and he was a hair too short (they gave him a sticker or something to keep him happy but wouldn't let him ride). He'll be closer to 4 on our trip to DLR in May and he already measures 40" with his shoes off.

My son is 4 almost five he was able to ride the 40" rides when we went at the beginning of March he was exactly 42". Last time we went before that he was a couple month away from 3yrs and he was tall enough to ride the 35" rides but not sure how tall he was exactly I think it was close to 40" but not quite there.

When we went last May my middle daughter was 4 1/2 and just barely at that 40" mark with shoes (and even then I'm pretty sure her curly hair helped her out some too!)

My oldest didn't hit 40" until 5 and my youngest is almost 4 and a little over 38" now so I am guessing she will hit 40" by 4.5 but you never know with my kids and our short genes ;-) I'm 5'2, hubs is 5'7 and no one on either side in our immediate families is over 5'10.

I don't see why not! Shoes definitely helped my older two (who were barely at the 40 and 42 inch requirements) pass My oldest daughter is bottom of the charts for height as well - she turns 7 in May and is around 43". She is hoping to be at 46" by Oct 2017 to ride Indy on our next family trip!

She definetly can. My brother was always just an inch or so short, he used to wear his heely's since the bottom of the shoe is much thicker than the average shoe. They never said anything or ever made him take his shoes off.
