My son will be 4 in May and is 38.5 in. I am waiting for him to be 40 inches so he can ride some big rides with me! I'm hoping he can reach this height within a year? Is that realistic? How old was your son or daughter when they were 40 inches?? Thanks

My daughter was just 40" when we went last Feb. She had just turned 4 in January so just two months prior to going to Disney. She is 5 now and is 41" now. She has always been in the low percentile for height too never over 50% so she def isn't a tall child. He could possibly grow 2" within a year but all kids are different.

My oldest was 3. My youngest was 4. The percentile trend of your child will likely be the best predictor of when tho shoes can help!:)

My oldest was not quite 3 and my youngest was nearly 5. They are completely opposite in every way!

Jelly (boy) was around 4 and 3 quarters (he was 4y9m in October and he just made it with his shoes (Keens) on. We had the 40" mark sharpied on the door jamb and he would check himself every day almost.

3 for both but they are definitely on the taller side. I'd take a look back at how much your DS grew in the last year to get an idea.

Right at 3. He just turned 3.5 and measured 41.75 when they measured him for fun at my daughters 2 year appt last week. She was 34" so I have no real hope of her being 40" when we go the week before she's 3.

One son was 3.5, his twin was just barely shy on that trip. Hoping my 3yo DD will be 38 inches come September!!! :goodvibes

DD was 3.5 but has always been in a high percentile group for height.

I remember we took my son to WDW for the first time when he was 3 and all he wanted to do was ride splash mountain and he was only 39 inches lol very depressing. We then went when he was 5 but splash mountain was not running :( so this time around he's 7 and he's over 48 inches so he can ride pretty much everything there so we have a fast pass for splash mountain so hopefully it will be running lol

My oldest was 5.5 and my youngest was 3.5.

Oh good my peanut, aka youngest DS, is not the only one over the 5yr mark, lol :) I just measured him a few weeks ago and he just made the 40" mark....now I'm just praying that the chart was hung up properly, because if not :( He will be 6 in April!! I just, last 3-4 months, started putting him in 5t clothes and they are soooo long on him, but the 3 & 4t's weren't fitting him in the waist. But he has ALWAYS been around the 5th percentile and last year at his 5yr well he didn't make it on the chart, lol.
My oldest DS turned 5 while we were at Disney our last trip and he was 40", I only know this because he went on some of the 40" rides so I'm not sure what his actual height was.

Don't feel bad my DS is 7 and still wears 5t pants. He didn't hit the 40 inch mark until after his 6th bday. Poor kid will probably be in a car seat till he's 12. Lol. He's used to it. He's a healthy, active kid and not a picky eater at all-just really short for his age. Funny thing is the other boys on his soccer team, who are all the same age, aren't any taller than he is. Now the girls on their team, that's a different story. They tower over the boys!

Hmmmm...thank you guys. I'm really hoping he hits a growth spurt within a year b/c I would like to plan a trip for his winter break next year. He would really enjoy it. He has been on medication a couple more times than I would like (prednisone) for his asthma and the doctor told me it could stunt his growth :(
But I have to ask her about his growth curve because like you guys mentioned thats the best predictor and I'm not really sure how to calculate it myself..

My nephew who is 3 months older than my son is 40 inches and rode Soarin already!

Last time we went DD had turned 4 about 2 months before the trip. She was 40". Right after that she hit a growth spurt and grew 2" in a month! She is just turned 6 and is a little over 46". I am hoping she will hit 48 before our trip in June so she can ride RnR.

My daughter was 3 years and 2 months last September when we were there for MNSSHP and she was too short to ride Thunder Mountain. When we went the last weekend of January, when she was 3 years and 6 months, she was tall enough.

All my kids are short.

DS1 was 5.
DS2 was 4.75.
DD will be 5 in a month and she's still only 38" (I'm sad it's not going to happen for our April trip). So, hoping when she's 6 she'll hit 40".
