How old should a kid be for autograph books?

Get it. It's not really about the autographs, it's about taking pictures of the kids as they get the autographs. The characters who talk will usually have a brief conversation. Those were some of our best photos over the years.

A couple of times we got autograph books with place for autograph on one side and a slot for a picture on the opposite page. Worked out nicely.

If your 3 year old is afraid/hesitant, I would wait. You are AP holders, eventually he'll be more comfortable.

I have autograph books for my oldest granddaughter at 20 months, 3 years old, and 5. The younger one has one for 22 months and 3. They both cherish them (beside each autograph I have a picture of them getting the autograph) and they love to get them out and relive the memories. They had such wonderful, fun filled trips they don't want to forget! I would, but that's because I can see how much they mean to them.

DD's first trip was 2 weeks before her second birthday. She had an autograph book and loved it. She thought it was the most wonderful thing to hand her book over, have them write in it, then hand it back! She had her 7 year old cousin with her, so that helped too. We have done an autograph book each trip since.

Get an autograph book...What we did was we would have the character sign the book and take a picture with the character and kid.
You know, the usual thing. I doesn't matter that the kid doesn't know what it is now. But you can take photos and paste them in the opposite page of the autograph. Then you bring back that autograph book the next time and the next and then you get a great photo album of your kid w/ characters over time...the characters love to look at it!

For my daughter's first trip when she was 3, all she wanted to do was get autographs. Now that she is 16, she draws pictures of the characters and gets them to sign it. After 10 trips to Disney for her, the magic of getting signatures is still there!

We didn't do autograph books until DS asked for one. Its nice to not have to lug another thing around the park, fumble with it, etc. (Not to be a downer - if the child is interested or you think would have fun, go for it! Cheapest thing on a Disney vacation.)

My oldest got her first autograph book at 3. Our youngest at 2 because her oldest sister had one.
