Hi y'all
My 8yr old is so excited about this trip (even though she doesn't know when we are going)But I hear all the time about she wants to wear this costume and that dress when we go see blank at disney. I'm going to let her start her day out in them bring other cloths because she will not want to wear them all day (I think) but is she going to be the only 8yr old dressed up? I don't want her to feel awkward when she gets there.

TIA

My niece was about 8 years old when we brought her and she wore her Belle dress all day. My daughter would also given the chance. There are many girls of all ages who are dressed up. Especially with BBB, you see more and more girls dressed up with their hair done and make-up. She will not be out of place at all.

My DD is almost 10 and she wants to wear one. I think because none of her "friends" will be there and she can still act like a little girl with us.

I have seen adults dressed up, and not just at Halloween.:rotfl: It's perfectly fine for a child to wear a costume.

My dd will be 8 this month and will still wear costumes or dresses in the parks. Not every day, but she does enjoy it.

You are never too old to wear a costume at Disney. I have gone with friends and family ages ranging from kids to adults and we all wore them.. all of us :thumbsup2

SHHH don't tell anyone....ITS DISNEY! you can always wear one no matter what age.

Let her wear them! Disney is all about imagination and enjoying the wonder and excitement of imagination. Children are the best at this and unfortunately it seems they grow out of it too fast the further along time rolls. Cherish the fact that she still wants to be a princess!:goodvibes

8 is fine. My dd is 12 & wouldn't be caught "dead" in a costume. ;) I think most kids "outgrow" them when they are around 9-11.

How old is too old??? Don't know. I do know that when my friend and I took our two dd's to WDW, to celebrate their 13th birthdays, both girls packed princess dresses. They have been friends since the day they were born.....we all met in childbirth class!! And the girls were born 2 days apart, in the same hospital. So, figured this would be a fun way to celebrate becoming a teenager. But...the funny thing is that both these girls are tall for their age. So, at 13, they were both about 5'6'' or perhaps a bit taller. So, their princess dresses (Belle and Aurora) came to above their knees. There is no way those girls would have ever dressed up in those dresses at home!!! Sure, they dressed up in them back when they were 5, but not much after that.
But, they were in WDW...it was time for MNSSHP and they were dressing up!! I wore my Malificent costume to go with dd's Aurora. And they had a ball.....didn't bother them a bit that they were 13 and wearing little girl princess dresses out in public at WDW.

Disney is the one place where you can wear what ever you want. :confused3 When i go i am a walking fashion faux pas, a violation to every fashion rule ever devised and those that are being formed. If you are concerned then take an extra change of clothes and leave them in a locker. If she changes her mind then go swap the clothes and leave the dress in the locker...

I don't think there is any such thing at Disney-that's the beauty of the place, adults can be a little bit like kids again. As for an 8 year old, I wouldn't worry at all, there will be tons of other girls her age and older dressed up. No one will even bat an eye. It's great that your dd is so excited, I hope you have a great time!

I agree with you dude,..
Nice idea shared,..

Too old is when you're an adult and the CMs refuse to let you in because you're violating the rule. :) I think it's probably around 16 for most folks.

At 8 this might be the last time she wants to dress up and I'd indulge that. Most kids seem to outgrow this by 9 or 10 (not all) and I think it would be a shame to miss out on one last round of dress up.

I was about to post this :confused3

Unfortunately, there is a "too old" to dress up at Disney. If I, as a 23-year-old, wore an Alice costume to MK (my favorite character :goodvibes), just think of all the children I would confuse! And that's why Disney doesn't technically allow adults to wear costumes unless it's MNSSHP. I don't know if the rule is actually enforced, but it does exist.

Attire that is not appropriate for the theme parks (and which may result in refusal of admittance) includes but is not limited to:

Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as representative of an actual Disney character
Masks (unless you are dressing up for a particular event)
Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics
Excessively torn clothing
Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment
Objectionable tattoos

But if you're under 10, no problems :thumbsup2

But, adults are fine if there is a Halloween party that night!! I can't imagine lugging my costume all the way to WDW for any other reason. No way am I walking around in costume unless it's the party night. Disney had no problem with it at all. Of course, I didn't go with green face either...that may have made a difference.:lmao:

Only time I would dress up is for Halloween. I wear Disney shirts though. When I am at home I dress up for Halloween. I would never think of wearing a costume to Disney though unless it was at MNSSHP. Also like other have said there is a rule and I think the age is 16 which to me is perfectly reasonable.
