How old do you think you need to be before you get your belly button pierced?

MY FRIEND IS GETTING IT AND SHE IS ONLY 13 AND MY OTHER FRIEND HAD IT SINCE SHE WAS IN 6TH GRADE

This has been a huge debate between my parents and I. I want to get mine done but they have been telling me no and giving me the worst reasons ever. I'm 17. As soon as I turn 18 I know what my birthday present to myself will be lol. I don't see what the big deal is all about.

I dont want a belly-buton ring, but i want a tattoo.. same thing to my parents though. They think Im tooo young. *sigh* oh well... ill find some other way.

Like maybe ill get a temporary tattoo and a clip on bellyring ;) lol

i think a safe age is whatever age you feel ready. but i say don't try to rush anything.

If I did my math right you're...14? Definatly hold off on the tattoo!!!!! hahah
I got mine when I was 18, and I now have mixed feelings about it. If only I had known, I would've held off....
When you're 14 you want all that stuff-but trust me, you will change your look 10000 times in the next 2 years alone! I'm not saying this to be condescending-I'm saying it because it's true! Write down a list of everything you want now...check back in a year, and half will have changed....5 years...you'll wonder what the heck you were thinking 5 years ago!

I'm a guy but I look at it from a father/brother point of view. I wouldn't want my daughter getting it until she's 18. She can get her ears pierced all she wants, but nothing else. As for tattoo's, you have to be 18 for that anyways. I have friends who have made homemade tattoo's with a needle and some ink, but they look ghetto as hell and he probably won't like it 4 years from now when he's 21.

I'd say wait until your 18 because 1. you will be old enough to do it w/o your parents' permission and 2. you will be more capable of making your own decisions as you grow older.

My friends mom said she'd take me.. and i really want one. Its a tattoo of my name in Chinese... And im pretty sure in about 5 years.... my name will still be Allison.. so i think im gonna do it.. if i can get some money.

2 more points to think about:
1-Any reputable place (meaning any clean place with good artists who aren't out just to make a buck) will NOT tattoo anyone under 18. If they did-I wouldn't consider going there.
And no, unless she lies, a friends mother is NOT allowed to be your parental consent. And, if she does lie, and your parents dissaprove-they can sue her AND the parlor.
2-The chinese letter thing is a fad. In 5 years-you may look at it and wish it gone, because you're wondering why you thought it was so cool. While your name will be the same, I guarantee your tastes will not.

I hope you make the right decision. Tattoos are PERMANENT. And even if years down the line you decide to have it removed, it is costly and most often leaves a scar.
You are only 14, you are still VERY young (not saying I'm an old lady, but when you're a teen, even a YEAR can make a big difference in your tastes and maturity).
I really hope you decide to do the right thing, instead of the cool thing. Chances are, you'll regret it.

I got my belly button done the day I turned 18, and at the parlor they said that they won't pierce anyone under 16 even with a parents consent. Plus at a young age, you body is still growing and is more likely to reject the piercing, and it will be alot more painfull to get it done again when you are older because it till have to go through the scar tissue.

You have to take REALLY good care of it too, washing it like 2-3 times a day for a few months, and then once a day for prolly as long as you have it to just keep it clean. You have to stay out of pool/beach water for like 3-6 months i believe untill it heals, so dont get it done in the summer because then you wont be able to go to the beach or the pool or anything.

I think that 16 is a good age to get your belly button done, and as far as a tattoo, 18+. I want to get one (Im 18) but I dont know what I want to get, and I wont get it done untill I have found something perfect. That could be like 5 years from now... but I don't want to get anything trendy.

An additional warning:
Britney Spears has a chinese tattoo...she was told it meant mysterious...it actually means "Weird"

My friend Mike got a tattoo that he thought meant "Dragon", until a Chinese man asked him why he had "turtle" tattooed on his forearm.

After spring break though I am going to get my tounge pierced. Assume what you want because it's not gonna be true, I just like the way it looks. Going to add my piercings to 8, and then I am going to get one more in each ear. I swear I will stop at 10 piercings :)

Assuming nothing :) Do as you please, you're over 18 and can legally make those decisions!
Ahh you say you'll stop at ten...my friend Kristen is heading out for 16 next week! lol
I still have 2...my ears...haha Im a wuss :) But i do have a tattoo so I guess I'm not TOO wussy...

well around where i live you have to have perental guidence if you under 18 to get a belly button ring or a tatoo but you can be under 18 to get it done. i can't weight caus efor my b-day present i might be getting a tatoo of stitch!! YEAH!!

My aunt works a tatoo place and they do piercings, she refuses to pierce any place beside the ears unless you are 16... tatoos you have to be 18. My best friend got his tatoo when he was 16 hes now 20 but it looks so bad because the only places that allow it are the crappy tatoo places that dont even care about what it looks like.. I want my eyebrow pierced and my aunt is telling me i can get it over the summer!!!! :crosses fingers and prays parents allow her to do it:
