How often is your rubbish picked up,

We have 3 bins...organics, recycling and garbage. Organics ( food scapes, food stained paper and garden waste) are collected every week. The other 2 catagories are every 2 weeks on a rotating schedule.

The bins are huge, on wheels and provided by the city.

That seems to depend on who does the hauling. Our hauler requires that the customer provide the cans. Some people buy wheels cans, but most seem to use plastic. I got tired of ours getting crushed, so a few years back I got a 32 gallon Rubbermaid Roughneck commercial can, and that thing is near indestructible. Our recycling gets placed in whatever container one wants. I've used one of those plastic totes, although being under the sun seems to have made the plastic brittle over the years. Sometimes I'll put out a small wastebasket.

Our green waste can go in any kind of reusable can. Our hauler doesn't accept plastic bags, but will allow large paper bags. The only place I've seen them is Ace Hardware.

We also get a couple of cleanup dates each year where we can basically put out anything like old furniture. The sidewalks (where there are any) become an absolute mess.

Our neighboring cities all use wheeled containers for everything. I think they're specific to the lifting equipment they use on the truck. One is an independent hauler, but a couple of cities contract out to Waste Management.

Weekly recycling and yard waste on Wednesdays and garbage on Thursdays. Recycling is just cans, bottles, paper and stuff like that.

Ours is a city wide program. Everyone has the exact same bins.

We have a Waste/recycling center very convenient for us to drop ours off whenever - 7 days wk. with attendant there.

Used to have it picked up weekly, but we stopped that a few years ago, and now do it for free - actually, think it's 'built' in on our property taxes somewhere!! :)

Lots more convenient, and no more forgetting to put cans at street. Most in our neighborhood just pay the 'extra' fee of about $25 mo. and don't deal with it.

All the neighboring communities around where I live do that. It's pretty much a requirement for the equipment that they use. Ours is the only collector in the area that picks up traditional cans. The collectors actually have these huge cans and might pile the contents from two or three homes into them. Everything is dumped in the back before it gets compacted. It's rather old school compared to modern equipment where they basically only need to line up the can on the street.

We live in the urban services district of our city.

Garbage pickup is once a week.
Recyclables are picked up once a month. Glass can't be recycled through the city, but you can drop it off at a recycling center if you so desire.
Yard waste (think large tree branches) is picked up once every four months.

Weekly garbage. Every other week recycling.

I wish it was reversed because I create far more recycling than garbage. By recycling day my bin is filled to the top and it's a big one on wheels.

We are outside city limits (though we live in a very busy area - it's frustrating), so have to pay for pick up. You can choose once, twice, or three times a week without or without recycling pick up. We do once a week, plus recycling.

Every Friday morning. No recycling here; you want to recycle, you bag up your recyclables yourself and take them 35 miles to the recycling place.

Twice per year the town will do a large items pickup, where you can put appliances, CRT TV's, mattresses, that sort of thing, out on the curb and they'll take it. I think they draw the line at vehicles and animal carcasses though. Oddly enough, I have a dud dryer downstairs that I keep meaning to put out and every year I forget about it.

You can turn the dryer "bowl" (can't think of what it's called!) into an in-ground fire pit.

Monday-garbage/trash
Tuesday yard stuff, grass clippings, leaves, branches etc
Wed cans/bottles/papers
Thursday garbage/trash.

Stuff like mattresses goes out with regular trash- if you have like a fridge or stove etc you call them and they send a special truck over to pick that up.

Once a week for trash and recycling.

The town I lived in for 26 years did not have pick-up. We took everything to the transfer station. (There was at least 1 private provider that you could hire to pick up your trash.)

Our garbage is picked up every Thursday, and recyclables every other Thursday.

I think it's weekly, we don't pay for that service because we have a town transfer station, aka the dump, about a mile from us that is open Fri, sat, sun and Wednesday from 8-4 for garbage, recycling, oil (paint and that kind of stuff is every few months), tree limbs/leaves/brush, appliances, tires, wood, metals, etc... anyways we pay town taxes so why pay someone to come and get our garbage.

My hometown everyone had the same hauler in your area and it used to be twice a week but now it's once a week since there are recycling bins too.

only once a week, but its picked up on Monday, I think thats the best garbage day, following the weekend
Ours was Monday and Thursday for years. Then we switched to Tuesday and Friday and I hate it. I used to be able to do a big clean up on Sunday and put the cans out on Sunday. I never seem to remember to put them out Monday night. Plus they switched us from 9am to 6am. When it was 9am I'd have time to put them out in the morning if I heard them coming or saw my neighbors cans out.

Once a week for garbage and organic composting (separate bins) , every 2 weeks for recycling.
