How often is availability updated?

Does anyone know how often the availability online is updated? I assume it's not real-time or I would likely see changes often throughout the day. I'm being a site stalker and trying to grab a room for a hard date (Christmas) and trying to better my chances.

I'm also not convinced that the site is actually pulling new availability vs. pulling a cached response and feeding me what they've already shown. Should I sign out, clear cache and then try again each time?

It's realtime. Rooms don't open up very often, and when they do, they disappear quickly.

I agree that it's real time. When you snag the last room if you recheck availability it's gone. And when you release a room and recheck then there it is if there wasn't availability before - unless it's gone to a waitlist. I've released and had part of the days not show up which I believe means they are being held.

I'm losing my mind over here. I stalked all day long and got the reservation I wanted (3 nights from 12/23 - 12/26). I told DD7 that we were going to Disney for Christmas (expecting her to be SO excited) and she started crying! She said she liked being home for Christmas but didn't want to say anything because she thought it would upset us. Needless to say, I canceled the reservation and we're going to stay home and have family time, but I was just so floored that she wasn't excited to spend Christmas at Disney World!

We spent Christmas when I was young and we were miserable and spent most of our time at the hotel pool. Every ride had a 2-3 hours wait and no fastpasses back then. We would go to the parks for a couple hours in the mornin and then it just got to busy

And, there was the xmas/new year visit where we got stuck in traffic and took a couple of hours trying to get to an ADR and then couldn't get parked when we got to it! I've given up holiday visits!

Caution at this time involves accuracy. The new availability tool has had a fairly high inaccuracy rate since it was introduced about a month ago (earlier it was wrong about 30% of the time) particularly showing openings when there were none but even showing some full days that were actually open. It has been getting better but still has some issues.
