How often have you actually gotten your room requests?

I just booked the CSR waterview room & requested Cabanas 9B with a view of Lago Dorado. Should I follow up w/a fax directly to the hotel a week or so prior to arrival???? Thanks!

I have only made specific requests at AKL, and got all 3 (checking in for a week on a weekend that they told me they were 90% full). We asked for non-smoking, king bed, and (since we booked standard view) a 3rd or 4th floor room close to the lobby. Got the ns, king bed, and were in room 3125 on Ostrich trail, barely a 30 second walk off the lobby. Granted, we didn't get upgraded to a savannah view, but I was glad we got what we did!

We had our TA note our requests on the reservation, but I also faxed the room assignor at AKL about 4 days out for good measure. HTH!

For an "exterior corridor" low-range budget hotel, I wouldn't be so specific. :goodvibes

Well....maybe $125/night is a drop in the bucket for you, but I definitely don't call that 'budget'. :earseek:

Last January we did a split stay at WL and AKL. I had requested a courtyard view looking directly over the lake and pool at WL and third floor savanna view looking into the Arusha savanna at AKL. At check-in both times apparently I didn't get the requests, because when I mentioned my requests the response was like 'oops', then 'let me see what I can do'. I was very lucky because both times they were able to give me exactly what I had requested.

In May I again did a split stay spending two nights at POP, then renting DVC points at BWV for five nights, then back to POP for two nights. I had requested top floor, 50s or 70s buildings, facing the lake at POP and top floor close to elevators for my waterview/courtyard room at BWV. At POP I got a corner room, third floor, 50's Lady's building, right next to the stairwell, and only a couple of minutes from Everything POP. It was much better than the room I had requested. At BWV the CM again said 'let me see what I can do' and a few moments later grinned and said he had found me the perfect Studio. He wasn't kidding. I was on the top floor, only two doors down from the elevators, right over the archway between Muscles & Buscles and the Wyland Gallery with a Boardwalk view. It even had an extra daybed, in addition to the sleeper sofa.

I've read in a couple of places that faxes are no longer accepted. I would just make sure CRO had my requests documented on my reservation and then when you check-in be real nice to the CM and remind him of what your requests were. I've found that if at all possible, they will accomodate you or find an even better room.

So far we have stayed at CSR and POR. We requested a specific area both times and ended up with what we asked for. (I didn't fax the requests- I just mentioned it when I called to make the reservation.) Good luck, and have a great trip! :)

the only requests I have made are non smoking rooms and have always been accomdated.

If your requests are noted in your reservation that is all you need to do. Most resorts are ignoring faxes.

You will have better success if you give an area rather than a specific location or room. Keep in mind that it is only a request and you will have a great time no matter where in the resort you are.

I've made requests over the years, but more about non-smoking rooms than anything else. When we stayed at the Polynesian in 2001, I did request a specific building and floor and was granted that request. And on our honeymoon in 2000, I booked a LV room at the Grand Floridian and requested a king bed in Conch Key. I got the king bed and a dormer room, but in Sago Cay. It was fine by me - we still had a great view of the castle!

For our trip to the Polynesian this summer my requests are non-smoking, first floor in Aotearoa or Fiji. I'll be happy no matter what I get b/c I'll be at the Polynesian! But I just throw the requests in to see what will happen.

When I didn't make ANY requests for our WL stay in Oct. 04, I got upgraded from Woods to Courtyard. Don't know if not requesting anything made a difference - my parents got upgraded as well.

This past trip we requested room 3131 at CSR. It was the same room we were in on our honeymooon. We got it!!! :) We were telling the bellhop about it and he remarked that we must have made the request WAY in advance because they resort was practically booked. :)

I've given up on making room/location requests that way I won't be disappointed if I don't get them. For our first 2 trips, I made requests on the reservation for which location I'd like to be in. Neither one was granted. Now I just say non-smoking and hope for the best. I've never had a room I wasn't happy with. The rooms may not have always been were I wanted, but they work out alright.

We made specific requests on our first two trips and were granted them, plus some both times.
I think that they try hard to accomodate everyones requests. Alot of times, I am guessing, it has to do with time of day you check in, what season you are in, etc.

to follow-up. We've been lucky because each and every time we have made a request, it has been granted. I hope our luck stays with our upcoming trip in 10 days. We're staying at the BC in a standard room and I requested on the reservation a full balcony or patio and non-smoking. About 3 days prior to arrival, I'll request a view of something other than a parking lot or kitchens/trucks...which can happen at some of the BC standard rooms.

Good luck.

Same here! I've been given great rooms and okay rooms. Nothing that would merit a request for a change. At the Poly and GF, we were given gorgeous rooms in buildings that I DID NOT request! So I also don't worry about it, and I'm not disappointed.

For our upcoming trip at AKL, I just noted that we'd like to be on the third floor, but if that doesn't happen, I really don't care.

:cool1:

I make a request for certain room numbers. I ask for rooms 5077 or 4077 at the WL and I have gotten one of those rooms 6 times out of probably 12 trips when asking for them. So I'm batting .500. On the trips that we asked for these rooms and didn't get them, we got rooms near these. We keep records of our trips, with notes about room #, etc. My experience has been to ask for your favorite room by #. On our first few trips to WDW I didn't know which rooms I liked, so didn't ask for room #'s.

We have stayed at the GF 8 times and I asked for the Boca Chica Bldg. and we got it each time. Didn't ask for specific room at the GF.

While at the WL I talked to a room assignor and she said request exactly what you want and they will try to fulfill your request. She said if you don't ask, they don't know what you want. We do travel in the off season, so this may have helped getting what we wanted.

We requested a room on the north side at Wilderness Lodge...I told them I wanted something around 5032, but I didnt get it. I didnt even get on that side. We had booked a woods view as well and I could see the parking lot...it was a big let down.

Before we left home I put in a request by phone for the Toy Story bldg at ASMo. They said they will put a note of it on my reservation but it was not guaranteed. When we checked in I asked a CM if we could have an non smoking room in the Toy Story bldg. He made a call and we got it. I was thrilled since my DD3 loves that movie. She didn't know I requested that building just in case we didn't get to stay there she wouldn't be disapointed.

we always pay for standard room. Then when we get there we ask for complimentary upgrade. I have gotten it every time. Even had a problem once in POR and got upgraded to WL!!!! It never hurts to ask

My ONLY request for my last trip in April, which I booked MONTHS in advance was the Toy Story section, which I know is very popular...but I had hope, as I booked so early. NADA. Oh well.

What kind of problem did you have that it merited a moderate to deluxe upgrade?
