How often have Poly and GF had shared bus service?

Always difficult to speak in absolutes when it comes to Disney transportation, you can encounter an exception to an experience someone had the day or hour before or unusual circumstances (both positive and negative) at any given moment on any given Disney day.

Generally speaking they always share on the return.

They usually share heading to the parks as well although it's not out of the question for some single resort service during morning rush periods. My personal experience with this has varied - I've been on a full Poly bus that opts to head to direct to the park and also a full Poly bus that makes a totally useless stop at GF. :-) My sense is they do try to dispatch buses to offset the GF build-up, but inevitably someone will find themselves on the losing end there as nothing with bus routes/capacity happens at the snap of a finger.

Just a reminder for less experienced guests, the only bus service offered at either resort is DHS, DAK, and DS.

Personally, while you can occasionally find yourself on a full bus to or from either resort or unfavorable delays for whatever reason, the majority of my Poly/GF bus experiences on average have been pretty efficient and lightly utilized, frankly.
Yea during an off time it’s never too busy, but peak crowds it can get toasty.

We have stayed at the Poly 4 times over the last 6 years. Most recently at the end of July. The buses always went to the GF, no matter how full the bus was. It's a bit of a pain because it seems like it takes forever to weave the the GF property - construction, gate, left turn, stop sign, stop sign, bus stop, etc.

Between the buses and the monorail, I don't think I would even stay at the GF, since they get the leftovers. I would definitely advise anyone using a scooter or wheelchair against it. The only real upside is the ability to walk back to the GF from MK at closing.

It's funny because, for the first 10 years of our WDW lives, we stayed at All-Stars, mostly. The biggest myth was that they all shared buses, and it was a big issue. We never once experienced any problems with it in 10+ stays. The only time I remember sharing was in the middle of the day when only a few people were riding. The reality is that we are now able to stay at a deluxe resort, but share buses every time. And I still only hear the All-Star myth.
