How Often Does Disneyland Change Park Hours?

They just released the hours for our trip at the end of August and they are disappointing to say the least. They do not open until 10, which I didn't even know was possible, and the two parks close at 8 and 9. There also is no mention of Disneyland Forever in the entertainment schedule, and I'm really worried it is ending early, despite still being before the end of the celebration.

The hours seem right for weekdays at that time of year. End of August is when most schools go back and they consider it off season at that point. The entertainment won't be posted until about 30 days before, so keep checking back. Disneyland Forever should be every night until the 5th.

I know that's kind of a crummy schedule but if you take more days it becomes a relaxing routine. What I mean is your not staying up real late and getting up early.
We always end up with this schedule because we go off-peak and we've found it works pretty good for us.
Still, I wish we could get in the park an hour or so earlier...

Unfortunately we only have two days. I like the not having to get up earlier, but I stay up well past 9 even when I'm home. Even with multiple days, it sucks not to be able to enjoy the parks at night.

Their hours have been consistently shorter this year than last year. I'm sorry yours are so short.

It's possible that the fireworks and WOC will be scheduled at park close, so you'll get at least a little more time...

Also, any line you get in up until park closing (So get in line at 8:58 at Pirates for a 9:00pm closing) you'll be able to go through the line and ride the ride. Also, save your Main Street shopping until the end of the day as most shops there are open for roughly an hour after official park closing time. Not ideal tips but it is a way to squeeze a little more park time out of your days.

Weekends at that time are open later.

We are also there the last week of August (in the parks Wednesday the 31st and Thurs Sept 1st, we are at Universal that week as well) and this is a very good strategy! I know we will want to scurry off to a line like Pirates or Peter Pan as soon as we are done with PTN!

Ten seems late for opening in August, it's still summer... Don't worry about the entertainment schedule, it always lags behind. They won't end the shows before Labor Day because they said the promotion goes through the holiday. After Labor Day...well we'll all hope the parade isn't ending.

These hours are SO short. Holy moly. The biggest disappointment is 10am opening. Ugh, I always feel like the 8-9am hour (when it opens at 8am) is the best time in the park. 10am just feels so late - and I'm sure will mean horrendous crowds from opening to closing.

ETA: at least it means I can stick to a 9pm bed schedule all week in anticipation of the running events on the weekend.

We did this same time last year and again this year when it opens at 10 and the park was still pretty quiet, the crowds were fairly small in the morning so we got alot done...last year we still had the parades and fireworks for the 60th so it will all be there :)

Also note that many restaurants close around an hour before closing time so keep that in mind.

You can also extend the Disney feeling on an early night by heading to the Hearthstone Lounge at the Grand or Trader Sam's at DLH for a late meal/nightcap before heading back to your hotel!

i assume you will be here the 29th through 31st, with DL closing at 9 fireworks are scheduled at 8:40pm each night when they are closing at 9pm

Yes! We are doing this on our DCA day (when the park closes at 8pm ) Instead of having dinner in the park we will have a late snack then head over to Tangaroa Terrace for dinner and Trader Sam's after that :thumbsup2
