How often do you vacation at Disney... AND...

Thank you all for the tips and suggestions. Please keep them coming!!! At least now I'll have something else to obsess over after our WDW trip. I always have to have SOMETHING to plan-LOL!

Since we joined DVC, we've been going to WDW every year. We also make a trip to see relatives in the northeast and do some touristy things there (museums, science centers, kids' museums, state parks, amusement parks, etc.).

We try to get out for day trips or weekend trips throughout the year when possible. Since we're still fairly new to TX, we've been doing some exploring here in Austin as well as Houston (Space Center, etc.) and San Antonio.

We also like to go for a 2-night camping trip every couple of years. I am not fond of the beach at all, so I avoid it as much as I can.

Watch out - Disney becomes addictive. When we first started going the plan was to go every two years. Well we couldn't wait and started going every year, now we'll have two trips in one year. We do some other things to though., We take a long weekend to go to the Jersey shore, we're 20 minutes away from Sesame Street and 6 Flags Great Adventure so they are great day trips, and this year we took the kids to Washington D.C. to visit my older ds who goes to college there. My in-laws used to live in Hilton Head Island so the kids used to go there every summer and they loved it.

We are actually planning our first cruise for next year. My parents have been on 16 of them and say it is the bext vacation going. We have also been to Myrtle Beach and stayed at a condo called The Links. It is located next to a golf course called Possum Trot (if I remember correctly). The resort was great. Can't wait to go back.

we're going twice this year. We will begin adding in wisconsin dells because we are from the midwest and its about a 2 to 3 hour drive for us. We will be staying at the treasure island resort durind low season. With the entertainment book, it's really cheap. You get admission to the water/themepark wih your stay at treasure island. It will give us a good cheap vacation while waiting on our next disney fix.

We go at least once a year, sometimes twice. We were sold on DVC a few years back and now we're hooked. I have offerred the kids (5 and 7) other vacations, but the only place they want to go is WDW (not that I can blame them). That said, I realize that there may come a time when WDW is just no longer "cool" and we'll go elsewhere.

For now though, we usually do Cape Cod for a few days in the summer (I'm not crazy about the crowds though), We always do a week in the Adirondacks up at Long Lake. We've done several trips to Lake Placid, NY (one of my alltime favorites) both winter and summer. We did Marco Island a year ago, which I loved. Kids were not as enthused. DD, 7, said on the plane on the way home that she'd rather just go back to WDW next time (must be nice, huh?). We did Bar Harbor,ME a few years back. Nice, very expensive, and we unfortunately hit it on a really cold spell. However, Freeport has been fun for the LL Bean outlets. Done Boston several times, we love the Aquarium and the science museum. The Children's museum is pretty lame.

Other than WDW though, our Absolute very best family vacations have been to Yellowstone Park and Cody, WY. We've done that twice and can'twait to go back. Yellowstone is more magnificent than any picture could do justice. And Cody, WY is such a fun filled great family town...Cody night Rodeo, the old west shootouts, and most of all the Buffalo Bill Museum is an easy 2 day experience.

Our next family trip (besides WDW) will probably be Wash, DC. I'd like my youngest to get just a little bit older to really appreciate all that city has to offer.

The crazy part of it all though, is that the #1 spot is still WDW. For everything WDW offers, you just can't beat it. Even if it's just relaxing by the pools, there's not a part of it that we don't love!

Anyone stay at the Kingston Plantation in North Myrtle Beach? It has the Hilton, Embassy Suites, and several condos. They have a new water park splash area for kids that looks fabulous!

We go to Disney usually every year.

But our favorite non-Disney vacation is when we rent a house on the beach somewhere in the Outerbanks, NC (I cant wait for our week this year in August!).

It is just a great beach & we have a lot of fun there.

Love it, Love it (dare I say it) as much as WDW!! Been going for 19 years-so prekids (they are now 18 & 16) & in the "Northern Beaches" and it is so laid back & family friendly we just keep going back-you can drive to the "activitiy" if you want or stay at your beach house & just swim, read, fish, crab, look for dolphins, watch dvd's (we get an ocean t=front house w/ pool, hot tub,etc-expensive but split among 3 families).... Aaah, only 30 days til I am back there....Enjoy whatever you do!
I also have been averaging one trip to WDW each year for the last 4 b/c daughter is one of the 'dreaded' cheerleaders :cheer2: that has competition every Feb, & I combine that w/ girls weekend or a quick fam trip! Deb
I think I am a spoiled brat! :goodvibes

We go to WDW once or twice a year depending on budget and schedules. Because my son is getting older and it's harder to take him out of school, it looks like we will be down to just one trip/year for the forseeable future.

We usually spend a week at the beach (Ocean City, MD) or go to Williamsburg, VA for a long weekend each summer.

I have been to Disney World about 5 times in my short, 12-year-old life. Flordia trips are ALWAYS the BEST! :duck: :teleport: :cat: :jumping3:

Everyone thinks my family is weird.

We only go to disneyworld. Outside of the occasional trip to Nashville to visit family, our vacation destination is always disneyworld.

Everytime we think of going somewhere else, we start pricing out the costs and always decide it is the same, or sometimes cheaper just to go to disneyworld!!! So off we go :cheer2: .

We did this ALOT last year, so we ended up making 4 trips to the world last year alone.

this year we went in january, may and are going again in september.

we are doing a week on cape cod with my family in july.

dh doesn't like the beach and prefers to 'do something' on vacation, so disney is perfect.

We go to the Wisconsin Dells http://dells.com/ off season, though. To stay there in the summer sometimes can cost as much as going to WDW!

We love another place in Wisconsin, the Osthoff, in the summer. It is not quite as crazy as the Dells... several pools, a wonderful beach, and their small town is in walking distance... all the rooms are condo suites. http://www.osthoff.com/index.htm Both places are about two and a half to three hours driving distance.

Last year, I took my daughters to Tucson, Arizona for spring break (free air and a decent price for the resort) My sister moved there. Resort was great.

We have been going to Florida every year, sometimes more than once, and stay at my parent's condo, which makes the trips so much less expensive when combining with a Disney trip. This November, we will be going to Florida for five days, but staying at the condo. This year's July Disney trip is combined with the condo and last year's Disney cruise also was...

With my girls getting older though, we would like to see the Grand Canyon, do a week or so in Wyoming, and when they get as bit older, see Hawaii (maybe via cruise) I would love to do a Disney cruise again, for a week this time...

It is tough, because every time we do the math, it seems Disney is not that much more then many other options. And everyone has so much fun, why not? :confused3

We usually go to Charleston or North Myrtle Beach or Surfside/Garden City Beach. Charleston is my favorite. I would love to live there! We usually go twice a year. We are staying in Crescent Beach this July. We haven't stayed there in a while because we usually stay at Ocean Lakes Campground which is on the south end of Myrtle. We will probably drive down to Charleston one day that week for a shopping day. Like I said, I love Charleston!

We like to go twice a year. In between, we are busy with DS's travel hockey. We visit Philly (3 times a year), Boston (6 times a year), Rhode Island (3 times a year) and NY about 6 times a year.

That's enough for me. :)
