I shampoo my carpets about every 2 months. I have kids and dogs and they need it. I can't imagine leaving all that dirt in there and never getting it out, yuck! And just saying you have dogs, doesn't mean they are pottying on the carpet, it just means they are tracking in dirt. With the snow melting and the mud that gets tracked in this time of year I need to do mine again. I've had a shampooer for 10 years and I've never had a problem with mold.

Heres a tip for the folks that have to shampoo their carpet every month....take the dog out!

 Dogs have to go outside to do their busywork? Damn, I wish someone had of told me that before I got dogs. :sad2:

me neither:confused3 I don't saturate them and the cleaner sucks the water right back out again. My carpet is almost 8 years old and still looks brand new:banana: The liquid cleaner I use is also suppose to have a carpet protectant in it.

Yeah, and I am considering sending my boys outside to do their business so that I never have to clean the toliet.....:lmao:

And evidently having a dog that makes a mess makes you a bad pet owner? Wow, that was an interesting leap. Have you ever had a puppy?

Very true.

Gee, I don't know why the OP never thought of that:rolleyes1 .

We have hardwood downstairs and carpeting upstairs. Our house is new and we've been in it less than a year. So far we haven't had them cleaned but I imagine it's something I'll do every year or so. We have a really good vaccuum cleaner and I vaccuum about 2 times a week.

The problem will be in your padding and under the padding on your subflooring. That is where the mold grows:scared1:

We have laminate downstairs and carpet upstairs. We clean our carpets about every 4-6 months, depending on how bad they get. Sometimes all we need to do is just hit the problem areas, like the hallway or the kids rooms. We used to have our own Bissell cleaner, but it never really did that great of a job so we usually just rent the Rug Doctors from the grocery store. It's only $25, and they do a fantastic job, and it dries in just a couple of hours. In fact, we had someone come out to steam clean the carpets, and for $120 he did just as good a job as I can do with the Rug Doctor.

I hate carpet! Soon we're ripping it out of the office and kids rooms and replacing it with laminate just because its so hard to keep it clean.
